Confession/Rant...Apologies in advance

Where else but at a family reunion can you hear such loving statements as:

"nice to see you doing something productive, finally"
"You could have been a doctor"
"Are you sure it's wise to pass out narcotic medications"
"I can't believe you're not tempted by it"
"Can you swipe me a few Xanax or valium"
"You got elected to an office???"

Like I'm some worthless piece of shit that does the same things I did over 10 years ago.

Give me a fucking break.

How about working my way through nursing school?
How about graduating in the top of my nursing class?
How about being asked to join the national nursing honor society?
Anyone want to give an ounce of fucking credit for that?
How about being asked to speak at state conferences simply because someone has heard me speak before?

Yeah that's all pointless because of crap I did 10+ years ago.
I'm still the same worthless piece of shit now that I was then...Right.
"You're divorced again? What's the matter? Can't keep a woman?"

"Can't play ball anymore? Hurt your poor widdle shoulder?" (no, didn't piss me off then, but thinking back....)

Yes, my daughter got to see and hear some of this too.

Fucking people. With family like this, who needs enemies?

Update

Back for Round 2 today.

It will not have the same outcome.

<Insert theme from "Rocky" here>

Sorry jeff
for both
what happened
and that they dont know you like us

At least,you gain one thing
You can always remeber

Be tolerant of the human race. Your whole family belongs to it - and some of your spouse's family does too.

Risin' up -- back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
I went the distance now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

Chorus:

It's the Eye of the Tiger
It's the Thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all
With the Eye of the Tiger
The Eye of the Tiger

Face to face -- out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds still we take to the street
For the kill, with the skill to survive
Risin' up -- straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
I went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

Repeat Chorus :

It's the Eye of the Tiger
It's the Thrill of the fight <---- correction (Thrill of the fight)
Rising up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all
With the Eye of the Tiger
The Eye of the Tiger
The Eye of the Tiger
The Eye of the Tiger

i haven't thought of this song in almost 20 years..
suddenly i was in my drill team uniform and pompoms were everywhere...
we did a routine to this song a long time ago

Good evening folks! Hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend! Nigel's show opening was wonderful and I was beaming proud of him! This is the first time I have seen him perform live on stage and he was fantastic!!!!

Oman, leave it to you to always have the perfect song!

Jeff, I sincerely hope that today went better. Fuck them. Thats what I say. You should be proud of the man you are today -- I know I feel blessed to have you as my friend and I am in awe of what you have overcome. They suck. The fact that they said some of this in front of your daughter is inexcuseable. Just because you are related doesn't mean you have to pay one bit of attention to them. (and yes, I know you know this...Im just providing some reinforcement.)

Hi Dreamy sweet one! :rose: Hope your weekend went well and that things continue to look brighter.

Confession:
*I had an extremely insecure moment last night. I haven't had one of those in a long time. Watching Nigel with his theater friends at the party after the opening was endearing but also made me flinch with insecurity, as I am not well versed at all on the theater or even great literary works. Im just not. So for a brief moment, I wondered if we would work long term or if he would grow bored with me as I am not able to help "feed" that part of his soul. But true to form, Nigel reassured me and helped take away those fears. Its amazing how I constantly am learning in this relationship.

It is amazing how those moments can come upon us outof the blue, isn't it? It sounds as if you and Nigel have wonderful, open communication - which is so key. Feeling comfortable enough to voice your concerns and vulnerability speaks volumes about your relationship. And of course, Nigel is awesome as well... and after all, it is not possible for us to fulfill every need of our partner.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you two are not only going to make it work long term, but that you are meant to be. :rose:

Just say a prayer of thanks that you don't have to live with them or associate on a daily basis unless you so choose!!!

Kudos on your achievements and life improvements!!!

It can only get better now... ;)

Thanks for the support kiddo.....They didn't know what hit them today.

And on the insecure moment.....

Two words...

Relax, goofball. (Providing the necessary reinforcement and the obligatory kick in the pants.)

You know those moments will sneak up on you.....embrace them...It means the spark is still...uhhhh....sparky
