Troubled Cupid

I saw someone else's idea for Valentine's Day and thought I would have a different spin on things. What if Cupid was real (not the baby in the diaper shooting arrows) lol but instead there was an ordinary looking person among us just walking around enjoying life until something happens and the special powers he or she has gets taken away and lands in a bitter person recently broken up from their marriage. The "new" cupid starts causing chaos by pairing up people randomly for his or her own fun until the idea of pairing up their former spouse with the person they hate most for revenge comes into their mind.

This idea reminded me of the Piers Anthony Incarnations of Immortality books where normal people take on the roles of Immortals (Death, Nature, War, Fate, etc.) and make all sorts of mistakes as they learn their new job.

It would be interesting to see a bitter person take on the role who has given up on love. He starts off with cynical pairings and slowly evolves (character arc!) into an understanding of love and the importance of bringing the right people together for the right reasons.

Makes it a much more complicated story, though could be broken down into a few chapters.
