Troll filter needed

As you can see there are some unflattering anonymous comments. I would request one of the experienced heads to tell me which are worthwhile suggestions and which are bits of trolling. I fucking hate anonymous commentators!!

The website has given you the power to delete whatever comments you consider objectionable for whatever reason you do. They are busy trying to accommodate all of the requests to have stories posted. There is no reason for them to do this type of monitoring when they've empowered you to do it yourself for your stories.

About half and half.

The comments that the characters weren't developed and had an unbelievable life history are reasonable criticism. Whether they are justified? That's for you to decide.

But if you write in the Incest category, you are likely to attract trolls because some readers expect more graphic sex; some expect the incest to have a reasonable development; some expect the protagonists to be horrified by what they are doing...

You can't meet all their expectations because they are incompatible. So you are going to get some trolls whatever you write in Incest (and far more trolls lurk in Loving Wives).

Just roll with it. If they piss you off enough you can delete them. My personal theory is that will make them come back again, but others disagree.

And for the record, we all know a foster kid can go through pre law and then to a prestigious law school. It's called a scholarship. Heh, you'd think I'd done this before.

Also understand something, these incest groupies want happy endings! They really do. Remember although the main draw to incest is the siblings or parents having hot taboo sex, many enjoy the emotional taboo as well.

They want the fantasy to go all the way, marriage (somehow legal) and pregnancy(with no birth defects) your unhappy-but realistic- ending will not sit well with that crowd. Especially in a one page story with limited time for build up.

If your style is to deliver these stories (and we both know it is) be prepared for more of this.

There are, unfortunately, a lot of food critics who complain that the food served was inedible and the portions were also way too small. When they're not doing food, they troll the Loving Wives and Incest categories.

Of course, there's a lot of inedible "food" in the LW category as well. :D

Fleas markets/Thrift stores are full of long forgotten best sellers.

But then that's not relevant to anything in the publishing industry. That reflects a marketing strategy (which apparently works, as they keep doing it). If you've determined you've got a best-seller (and in most cases the publishers decide what is going to be a best-seller before releasing the book), copies are mass produced to get them to as many points of sale in depth as possible. They know a large number of them are going to be pulped or remaindered. What's important is not the ratio of units produced/sold, but the bottom profit line. Most of what you see on a remainder table is not evidence of failure.

AMEN! I've had several on a recent story as well as others. Some are quite stupid, some are sincere, and some worry me a little. I had one person tell me that I "crossed the line" by having a character in my most recent story allow his lady friend (that he much cared for) ro have sex with his friend. As per my anonymous reviewer, the friend he let her have sex with was a "prick" and an "asshole" and he would never in reality let his girlfriend have sex with him. Hey, it's just semi-porn fiction people. It's not "Gone With the Wind". It's like people that get angry with soap opera actors who have affairs or do something sleazy, illegal, etc. Geesh. Get a life.

Actually
people DO get angry at soap operas
my mom yells at the screen o_O

I interpreted the OP's request to be of the site's Old Farts, not the admin folks. And the Old Farts have responded.

I thought it was a decent story, R. Could use some development, but hey, I've seen way worse in this site. Just delete the comments you don't like.

Troll comments usually consist of a) inarticulate and grammatically incorrect pronouncements (ie: 'Ths stry sux), profanity, invitations to perform impossible sex acts (ie:"Go fuck yourself') and ridiculous editorial commentary (ie:'He should'a fucked her anyway).

Anything else should be considered rational criticism. Your call.

You mean like this one I received on Monday?

Now this how it is done

took way to long to get to the point should have just took her a hit in the back of head and she is out and your to do with what you will

Thing here is aside from several missing words to make a complete sentence. The character in the story that was reluctant was the male, this guy is saying how to get the female unconscious to have sex.

But, for me these things are worth it all day long, they make me laugh.

Exactly! I find such comments highly amusing as well ... and more than a tad scary. They walk among us!

Yeah they do but most of them have their knuckles dragging on the ground. :D

According to FBI estimates, fully one half of one percent of any given population is psychotic. In a nation of 330,000,000 that's a lot of nutz. Better they should use their time railing incoherently on Lit than out murdering little kids or torturing animals.

But some of them can multi-task.

Sounds like the judges from the Food Network show Chopped...lol

On a side note, it's funny how some of the judges complained about having bones in their fish (rightfully so), and when their was a judges edition, those same judges served food with bone in their fish.

But seriously though, there doesn't need to be a filter or anything like that when it comes to comments. Simply delete it.

Those are "unflattering" comments?? Wow! I've gotten praise that wasn't as good as these. Remember that any serious critique means that someone not only read your story, but cared enough one way or the other to say something about it. The fact that they cared at all means you're already way ahead of the game.

Believe me, this is not what we mean by being trolled. "Your stupidass steaming pile of horse shirt story made me choke on my own puke!" or "fuck you you disgusting piece of shit!" Those are trollisms.

I have to agree with many other posters - you had one or two doofy comments, but the rest are fine. Even the mean comments weren't that bad, just people who didn't like it, and that's not the same as trolls. For any comments you don't like, you can delete them.

I've gotten a few like that. Then my wife told my mom to stop picking on me.

Well the "sucking in the rain" one was a bit harsh, but to me it got points for being funny.
