Recent longhorn screenshots inspired us here at -WiNBETA to share a few pictures of a toy we've had for quite a few weeks now. 3663 shots recently surfaced, and we honestly felt sorry for the general public, and a little guilty that we had better, so its time to share. Update: Due to the overwhelming responce to these great screenshots, our good buddies at Icrontic and Tech-Critic have mirrored them as well. Thanks guys! WinBeta.org These shots are of Windows Codename Longhorn Build 6.0.3683.Lab06_N.020923-1821 (it was compiled on 23 September 2002 at 18:21), clearly this proves conclusively what we have been saying in the channel for weeks that longhorn IS NT6. The first shot is of the setup screen, virtually identical to the 3663 screenshots , except its much prettier, and is shown in longhorn itself, the new theme that can be seen is called Plex, the sidebar (which is its proper name, yes its not sideshow or dashboard its SIDEBAR ) can be docked on either side of the screen, and can be made transparent, it also features a highly attractive 3d clock, at which arnaudt myself, scoop and khujo used many boxes of tissues. The sidebar can also be used as the taskbar exclusively as shown in shot number 2. This shot shows the sidebar being used exclusively as the start menu, with the start menu switched off in Longhorn media center Just for the hell of it one of the same thing but in Longhorn pro, just to prove we have both. The login screen, yes its pretty, yes its wonderful, and isnt that clock in the top right hand corner worth a wank alone? Avalon is the codename for the Longhorn API, it is built on top of the .NET framework, and its responsible for that pretty sidebar, as well as the lovely background display control panel (which doesnt work very well yet). Screenshot of the desktop ...... nothing too new here .... an updated version of the screenshot leaked by my good friend Steven Bink is however evident. This background can be downloaded HERE This is a shot of IE in longhorn, one can see it clearly isnt IE7 (i refer you back to my article a few days ago HERE) its IE 6.05, once again i cannot press enough that it isnt IE7, those that claim IE7 exist may be ashamed now. The new shell, well, isnt she lovely? Whilst yukon is in development (also known as wfs [the windows filesystem]) provides metadata for the shell that helps those little green bars to look so lovely, unfortunately yukon isnt included in this build, and so a service emulates it instead. Lovely new picture in my documents, isnt it great?, and the new version of the task pane can be seen to the left. My Pictures, pretty, and lovely.
