Trayvon Martin was an upstanding citizen and an asset to his community.

His death was a DEVASTATING loss.

Do you understand why that's a) wrong and b) an atrocious thing to say?

Not even in the slightest.....

It's not wrong....proof is in the pudding, Trayvon dead.

You don't start a fight unless you're ready to finish it quick fast and in a hurry or you might wind up dead yourself. Anyone who doesn't take that into consideration before taking a swing on someone is a fucking moron.

Reality is atrocious sometimes.

There's zero evidence that Trayvon started the physical altercation. It's George Zimmerman's word against no one's, because Trayvon is dead. If you accept that as true, you're making an assumption and playing into the "thug" narrative, or maybe just your own. Saying a 17-year-old who just as easily could have been protecting himself deserved to be shot to death is pretty low, but without all the facts? I just don't see why you'd do that. That's not reality.

The evidence is the broken nose and other injuries suffered by Z. and the testimony of eye-witnesses. In addition, there is the circumstantial evidence. If you are a short, fat out-of-condition man on a neighborhood watch and are armed with a gun, you do not start a fist fight with a younger man who is taller and vastly more athletic than yourself.

This may or not have been mentioned at the trial, but it is so obvious there would have been no need to do so.

EXACTLY...which is all they have got, no forensics contradict his story....case closed. And that's why he was acquitted.

If you automatically assume it's a lie you're just playing into they lynch mob narrative. Or maybe just your own...

See how that works?

He could have just as easily had a chip on his shoulder and attacked Zimmerman just like Zim says he did. To try and persecute zim for that based solely on opinion is pretty low.

but without all the facts?

You mean all the facts that couldn't get Zim convicted?? The only fact here is that there are in fact very few facts to be had in this case, not enough to convict a guy 1/2 the country wants burnt at the stake.....it's just emotional appeal that's all the pro trayvon crowd has.

I just don't see why you'd do that. That's not reality.

I don't see why somone would run down a Miami Highway and chew peoples faces off either.....and if that's reality, a 17 y/o boy with a chip on his shoulder picking the wrong fight is anything but unbelievable or unrealistic. You're just caught up in a bunch of "Woes is the poor angel boy!!" bullshit.

The evidence of FORENSICS and EYE WITNESSES all testified at the trial

No matter how often you repeat it

IT AINT SO

and you didn't LISTEN TO EVEIDENCE PRESENTED....THUG LEPT OUT at ZIM and ATTACKED HIM, MMA STYLE.......the THUGS cell phone had text messages all attesting to his ability to PUMMEL and BREAK NOSES and HEADS

He was a THUG.....better off dead...

Please don't tell me YOu or anyone gives a flying fuck about a BLACK KID, dozens get killed every month and no one says shit

and he was a THUG

Another “Wannabe” Cop Saw Trayvon Acting Suspiciously

The kid was a creepy ass. He exuded a body language that just shouted- “I’m up to no good.”

BadBlue

In October, a school police investigator said he saw Trayvon on the school surveillance camera in an unauthorized area “hiding and being suspicious.” Then he said he saw Trayvon mark up a door with “W.T.F” — an acronym for “what the f—.” The officer said he found Trayvon the next day and went through his book bag in search of the graffiti marker. Instead the officer reported he found women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that he described as a “burglary tool” …

Word of the incident came as the family’s lawyer acknowledged that the boy was suspended in February for getting caught with an empty bag with traces of marijuana [and his] backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described silver wedding bands and earrings with diamonds.

Nevertheless, Trayvon Martin was a thug and a criminal.

His death is of little consequence.

Actually, she's right. No one knows how the final scene really started. All we know is someone saw things near the end.

By the way, you sort of remind me of someone I know who has poor reading comprehension skills.

The reason I believe, but cannot prove, Trayvon was the aggressor.

When Zimmerman was talking to the 911 dispatcher, he said Trayvon was ran. So Zimmerman gets out of his truck to see where Trayvon went.

Trayvon cut down the sidewalk between the townhouses. Zimmerman walks past this sidewalk to the other street, and doesn't see Trayvon. So Zimmerman has lost Trayvon, or in other words, Trayvon has given Zimmerman the slip.

So now the 911 dispatcher advises Zimmerman he does not need to follow Trayvon, so Zimmerman starts heading back towards his truck, the same way he came and did not see Trayvon.

This gap between Zimmerman losing Trayvon and the final encounter has been said to be between one and a half minutes to four minutes. Plenty of time for Trayvon to cover the 75-100 yards to his house. But this didn't happen. So a reasonable person would conclude Trayvon was waiting to see if Zimmerman was really following him.

On his way back towards his truck, Zimmerman encounters Trayvon at the intersection of the sidewalk. At this point, Zimmerman is moving TOWARDS his truck, and Trayvon is moving AWAY from his house. It is reasonable to conclude that the person moving AWAY from their destination is the one who initiates the encounter, and is more likely the aggressor.

Now we don't know what was said in the exchange at the sidewalk, but given that Trayvon was moving towards Zimmerman and away from his home, lead me to believe it is more likely he started the confrontation, and is enough reasonable doubt that I would have voted not guilty.

That doesn't matter. He didn't deserve to be killed.

He's not dead because he "deserved" to be killed. He's dead because the person with whom he was fighting reasonably feared for his own life and exerted force which resulted in Martin's death.

Those are two very different things.

I think we can also be reasonably certain that Zimmerman did not sustain any of his injuries after he shot Martin.

BTW, how beat up was Martin's face? Were those photographs entered into evidence?

Yeah, witnesses were out by that time.

I don't recall pics of Martin entered.

Even if he had lived, Trayvon Martin probably would have ended up going to prison for drugs, violence, burglary, or armed robbery.

Like I said, he was a thug.

Botany's right.

The lesson here is if you are going to get into a fight be prepared for it to be a LIFE struggle.
