The worse part is that they're not "foreign troops"...

...the President of the United States of America has ordered the US military to train all comers who have traveled from most all over the Muslim world to fight on the Sunni side in the Syria war.

They're simple, incompetent mercenaries answering their imams' call to holy jihad to depose, by deadly force, the UN-recognized government of a sovereign nation...

...has a Nobel Peace Prize winner ever been charged in the UN with war crimes?

You see, what you do is take in the scum from every other nation and you give them some flashy uniforms, some guns and just enough knowledge to be effective in battle, if not astounding.

Then because they really are scum, you need to give them incentive to do whatever you really want them to do - so you: (if French) promise them citizenship, (if English) promise them land (you won't keep this promise), (if American) promise them freedom and citizenship (you won't keep this either)

Then you send your makeshift force into battle, where it gloriously dies in a most deniable manner - but makes the case that only American, British, French, Russian troops, or whatever nation you happen to be warmongering for - must invade to undo whatever evil your now dead freedom fighters died to undo.

Or something. . .

Now if your freedom fighters manage to win . . . you've got a problem (see Afghanistan 1).

Pretty much......we send 12 guys into a shit storm to raise and run an insurgency in our interest. Plus all kinds of other shit depending on what kind of team they are on. Some are HALO/HAHO teams....diver teams...SF offers all kinds of unique adventures.

These guys don't wear name tags or ranks, they don't carry ID's, they don't wear uniforms and they have gotten very very good at what they do and then some over the past 50 years. They speak at least 2 languages and spend nearly 2 years in training that face fucks the majority out of the ranks. That's after selection which is a month long gut check that makes SEALS look like a bunch of fuckin' slackers.
