Trafficking Prostitution-America Hijacked by Porn

So your position is that CBN made up the symposium and what was said there?

I think my major issue is there is no opposing voice for the matter. This article just smells of "anti-pornography" propoganda, which isn't a shocker considering it is the Christian Broadcasting Network. Really, I tried to look up any other news sites which were covering this, and I didn't really see any except for this link, which I guess is a bit sad since the secular websites don't even bother with it.

Of course, I do feel the CBN is spinning this again, even going far enough to compare child and adult mainstream pornography, which are NOT the same. Last time I checked, under the law, adult pornography is legal and child porn is not.

I don't know how reliable you all think this would be, considering it is CBN, but I feel a mass majority of the article is bullshit http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/us/2015/July/Trafficking-Prostitution-America-Hijacked-by-Porn/

That first link is a crock. I have seen a lot of porn, but none of it was ever violent. I've written a lot of porn too, and the only times it was ever violent were when it was mutually enjoyable or when it was justified and the bad guys ended up getting theirs by the end of the story.

Even child porn is legal, as long as it is not photos or tapes of actual children. Anime and written porn about children is legal but not acceptable on this site.

You didn't look very hard. I googled it and see it was covered by the Washington Times and USA Today just right off the top. I didn't bother looking further.
Also, the article isn't anti anything, the symposium was and that had nothing to do with CBN.

What makes it a crock? They were not talking about just physical violence. While I do not agree with much of what they said, I think that part was probably reasonably accurate.

Yeah, I did a Google search as well.

I do think CBN has more stock to gain than the Washington Times and USA Today does with the whole thing.

So what if they do? I didn't see anything in the article to suggest they had anything to do with it. Lots of groups and organizations would agree with the people at the symposium and they probably covered it to some extent.
If USA Today covers a symposium on journalism for stupid people does that mean they had anything to do with it?

True

Just out of curiosity, what didn't you agree with?

In the article? I don't agree that porn is prostitution although I understand why it is viewed that way. I do think it is very violent and that that will rub off (pun intended) on kids who start watching before they begin serious relationships. I do not think think porn is inherently unhealthy or wrong if viewed by adults who know it's fake.

Well, under the law, Porn isn't prostitution. I have seen some violent porn, but I don't think that it's ALL violent. I can see that happening with kids, though some aren't that stupid.

What I find funny is they saying that is addicting. It's like, "yeah, but isn't anything, including religion".

Porn is very addicting to many people and it's a serious issue. It has caused countless divorces and lost jobs.

There are many types of violence and they are mentioned in the article. They are quite careful to point out that it's not just physical violence and they are probably at least close to correct. Most porn that I've seen has some level of physical, emotional or at least verbal violence in it. It's consensual between the actors but is not portrayed that way. I don't think that makes it wrong but it's there.

Porn is prostitution, that isn't even up for debate. The reality is that prostitution should be legal however. That's just the reality of the situation.

The idea that it causes divorces is bullshit. If you believe that you'll believe just about anything. The problem with the United States and porn is that we're still too Christian as a nation and it rots our fucking brains.

The country would be far better off without the CBN than it would be without pornography.

People enjoy pornography.

That ain't no shit.....if a woman can sell pussy in front of a camera there is no reason she shouldn't be able to do it privately. Help some of these girls out of the closet...quit with that triflin' ass bull shit and put a cash money price tag on it.

Plus pimpin' will be legitimized too....might take a shot at that bidnizz  help them girls them be all they can be

I don't really understand the RW's obsession with controlling everyone's sex lives but they really need to grow the fuck up.

Their obsession is simple

They love pornography, they fucking love it. They love to watch all those 'dirty whores' commit all those sinful acts and they masturbate to it.

Then they are filled with self loathing because they were raised with archaic BS religious beliefs about sex being evil.

They feel guilty, but then they go back and watch more so the point is they need to eradicate the source of their sin...

It all comes back to the garbage called organized religion.

As I recently said to a moral majority moron recently

"How many people have been killed by pornography? While you think about that here is the follow up question, how many people have been killed in the name of "God" and religious wars.

End of discussion.

Dirty whores are the best kind....

To be fair the number of people killed in the name of God and religious wars are probably much lower than we atheists like to pretend.

I don't think so, but only because when I say "God" I mean all of them. The holy wars in the middle east have been going on since...well forever.

Doh!
For some reason when I read CBN, and even when I typed it, my brain was saying CBC.

But in any case, I'm sure there was a symposium talking about all that and even if it wasn't put on by CBN or some other religious group, it's certainly up their alley (no pun intended).

Only if you're looking at US history.

Otherwise in a grand historical context most wars have had some deep religious/church ties and motivations.

Sometimes it's about resources.

Sometimes it's just a fuckin' lunatic that managed to put an army together....

But most the time it's been cultural/religious insecurity on the part of some control freaks that start shit and the two former situations are almost always sold with/through religion. It's much easier to get the morons on board with "It's gods will!" than it is to try and rationally argue why we need to go kick someones ass and possibly catch a beat down in the process.

When they get all to porn out of politics then I might watch. We are all being fucked by the 1%ers, and my ass is tired of it!
