Its all well and good when a couple wants to live in a male-dominated, head of house patriarch lifestyle with a perfectly submissive breeder/wife who'se place is in the kitchen and the bedroom. Perfectly fine, if that's their thing, both partners agree to it, and they can afford to live this way on one income. I do not judge people for this. HOWEVER...

It is absolutely NOT okay to use government as a tool of oppression, to legally force other people to comply with this lifestyle even if (especially) it is not their thing. And this is exactly what these people want to do! Strip away women's rights, female independance, female equality, and turn America into their own private Afghanistan. To each their own, but draw the line at your own front door!

A stay at home spouse can be more frugal, with meal prep, transportation, etc. Takeout food because they don't have time to cook or shop and a second car can rapidly eat a budget. The husband can stay at home if the wife has a better job, but he may be lazier with some chores such as cleaning the bathroom, and he may have a much shorter menu, like spaghetti or hamburgers every night.
