All the men in Tracy's family went to all-male Prestige College, except ...Tracy is a girl.

Though in her family it was pronounced in two syllables "guh-irl" or three "guh-ugh-irl". Unfortunately, Tracy's mom died in childbirth and she was raised as an only child- her Dad travelled too much to ever remarry, though there were lots of women in his life- stewardesses; secretaries; waitresses, mostly.

From an early age, Dad took Tracy out of school and she got her education via correspondence while she travelled with him. She has become a real tomboy, though she has "all the girly parts".

At 18, she has never had a date, let alone a boyfriend. She got the letter confirming that she would graduate high school while in Switzerland.

Is it her idea or Daddy's to have her apply to Prestige? They've laughed for years about the confusion her name creates- the hotels surprised that his "son" was a young woman...

In any event , she is accepted.

At Prestige, frosh are required to live in residence, and they always have a room mate... so Daddy teaches her how to dress and act like a young man. Then she heads off to school while Dad heads to Asia for three months.

Nice idea, though Tracy's very much a girl's name here in the UK

Sam ( Common nickname for names such as Samuel / Samantha, if not its own short name )

Here in the US, Tracy (and even Stacy) can be a name for a boy or girl.

Maybe her roommate is named Stacy, and is attempting the exact same subterfuge at the college? That is, both pretending to be boys when they are most definitely girls. They accidentally discover each other's secret, and then become lovers.

(obligatory incest twist: and then they discover that they are long-lost half-sisters from one of dad's trysts with stewardess?)

There's always Shannon. Shannon is a rather unisex name that is given to boys and girls, some places see it more as a woman's name but well eh who cares. Shannon shortens to Shane or Shan only which is slightly odd but well it's not a very good name.

Jamie is a good unisex name. Personally, I think this story is more interestingly told from the perspective of the male roommate who now has to wrestle with his sexuality.

Same here, never meet a guy named tracey. I always liked Cameron, sounds kinda masculine but it is a commen unisex name.

Oh my, that's ANOTHER name which is strictly for the girls on this side of the pond! How about Marion? Again, a girls name over here, but John Wayne's real name over your side

An Interesting idea, But I've always found this strange "coincedences" as well, lacking in a certain aspect, leaving a minor disatisfying feeling.

Personally, I think that having a male roommate, finding himself attracted to this "boy" but is certain he is not gay, struggling with his feelings until he eventually finds out the truth could be a much more interesting story.

But, it depends on two things,

1) who writes it

2) do you want lesbian or straight sex?

Lynn honestly you brits have the oddest names anyway. Eustace, I mean damn, that makes me think of a burly woman with a bit of a mustache being a door guard for a secret lesbian club.

Yes I know I'm totally going way old school there but besides the lesbian club it is literally what I think of the name. :D

I really hope you are not married or related to a Eustace.

I've known Tracys of either gender, though my first connotation is definitely female. It's hard to find names that everyone agrees work both ways. I think Drew and Riley are two good, tomboyish names.

As to what I would do with this plot... Let's say our Tracy's roommate is a big, strapping, handsome guy, captain of the rugby team sort of type; Tracy happens to be pretty good at rugby too. And they get along great with Tracy being the tomboy that she is. The only time she really feels uncomfortable is when it comes to locker-room talk, and she needs to listen to her roommate talk about banging his hot girlfriend, and Tracy needs to make up her own stories just to fit in. However, when she meets her roommate's girlfriend, there's an undeniable mutual attraction, and the girlfriend mentions that the roommate doesn't mind her sleeping around with other boys from the rugby team. Tracy ends up watching the couple fuck in the near dark from across the dorm room. She can't help touching herself, especially when she thinks she sees the girlfriend looking back at her.
Not sure where the story ends up... does she get the girl outright, or do they end up in a threesome?

Hey sirhugs get off the horse, I'm going to blow your mind.

I kept thinking about this and well I started writing a story of this. Not gotten all that far into it, having problems with the connection and looking up Brit slang. Fairly sure that is because of the website but still I've rather given up for the night.

So I went with Shannon and forget the brothers stuff. Slightly better backstory, she wants to go to public school like her dad did, mom died giving birth. So to get this she acts up in the boarding schools her dad sends her to and gets labeled as lesbian.

Dad has the bright idea of sending her to a Brit boarding school for boys. So her flatmate is a young Johnny Depp look alike, not real sure what else to do yet. I do know that they are let off campus on the weekend to visit a pub. Eighteen is legal drinking age there you know.

Oh and there is period talk in the story, mention it sorta in passing since she is cleaning out a reusable Softcup when the flatmate gets in to fetch her to dinner. He figures she's wanking, that means stroking one off. ;)

Hi there Emap. I've never met or heard of anyone with the unfortunate Christian name of Eustace, but your description of what a Eustace may look like seems to fit! In the instance of a man coming over here and introducing himself as 'Tracy', I think that most Brits would have to suppress a snigger! Once though, I was introduced to an American called 'Randy Vicar' and I was obliged to suppress my mirth. Over here, 'Randy' is a slang term meaning 'sexually aroused' and a 'Vicar' is a church minister!

Yep, there's plenty of strange names around these days, due to the dumb-ass parents of those children. There's a girl who comes to my local library called 'Keegan', named after former local soccer manager Kevin Keegan (shakes one's head in disbelief)

The story doesn't have to be set in England, especially if you dont really understand the lingo.

My advice, would be something like "Use a name thats a girls name for one country, IE mother was English, wanted a daughter called Tracy, but after moving to America, where its more of a boys name, people were mistakenly assuming she was a boy"

Hmmm, let's think, I can put someone in the old west and everybody thinks I did a great job. Suddenly though I can't do a British setting.
