Tracking Stats

A lot of authors saw their scores drop in March - seems to have been an issue with the method the site uses to clean up bogus voting, getting over-enthusiastic and culling a lot of legit votes.

Agreed.

And this thread reminds me how much fun it has been to let my Geek Flag secretly fly by recording my votes and scores whenever I see a few changes. The benefit is that you know when you've been trolled and whether sweeps have been effective, and when whole handfuls of "5" votes have been unaccountably removed by the site. That can make you feel better that all your stories don't rate 4.99, as they rightfully should.;) One E&V story that once got to 4.89 with hundreds of votes is constantly carpet-bombed, and now I have a record of it bouncing between 4.87 and 4.78 almost monthly.

I also spent one week quarantining and tracking a story through the New list every few hours. It was fun to write and one of my better ones. It got seventeen "5" votes in a row at one point and has settled at around 4.82/3, but from that exercise I can tell that four votes of "3" were posted early one morning, within a few hours, and the site swept only two of them. The foregone 4.87 would have generated a lot more views. Some "4" votes were swept too, though, which surprises me.

Oh well . . . it's not like losing the Pulitzer, I guess.
