This is an anonymous poll, so no one will see your poll answer. I am writing an article about toy use among men and women and a couple of things that have struck me as interesting observations about this topic are:

1) Straight men are willing to talk about masturbation and do so with frequent ease, but seem more embarrassed when discussing the toys they want or own, even when they have them.

2) Women have been brought up to think masturbation is not something to talk about, yet they easily discuss their toys.

3) Gay and lesbian (perhaps transsexual – not sure) individuals are happy to discuss toys and masturbation with both ease and pride.

Do you agree or disagree with any of the above statements and if so or not, do you have any further comments as to why you do or do not agree? (PMs are most welcome).

It could be true, but I don't fit the norm. I'm a straight male and I'm open about pretty much everything.

But I have no need or want for toys, so I don't have any (which makes me seem like a typical male all over again ;) )

As a straight male, I do enjoy my toys, however, my friends don't talk about sex toys over shooting pool and drinking beers... Must be a guy thing.

So, do I sign up as straight or gay?

Either way, I don't trust any non-human devices with my body. So, no toys.

For masturbatory purposes, men's hands work quite well. I think that a lot of men just plain don't own toys nor have any real interest in them. If there was more utility to them, you bet that sex-obsessed young men would buy them at an early age. Now porn, on the other hand...

Really, for a man, the only toys you might want to own would be anything for anal play, which, is rather stigmatized in most straight male circles.

My gf has toys and we occasionally play with hers. Does that count? I don't have anything I use on myself, or really any desire for anything, although I do have a friend who sells sex toys and is always trying to get me to try the new toy on the market.

I am a straight male and I don't think I use toys. The reason for my confusion is that I have dated a few girls who I think had less IQ than a typical inflatable doll. Does that count in the toys category?

Yes. I think living Barbie dolls should count as toys.

I can get off with my fingers on my clit but I can get off a lot better when I have something vibrating inside me or going in and out of my pussy. A dildo works a lot better than my finger. I don't talk about it with my friends but I have no problem expressing myself here.

I was brought up being told that nce girls don't play with themselves. But Mom never said anything about a dildo or vibe, so I see nothing wrong with them.

Lesbian.
For solo masturbation, I use a vibe or two.
For masturbation with a friend (on the phone or in person) I use just my fingers.

Vibes tend to interfere with a cell signal, anyway. ;)
