Totally tasteless, but SFW nevertheless

Well, that explains why my last Soylent Green smoothie tasted a bit like gun oil.

Not funny.

No, I'm not a conservative.

I just have a certain amount of respect for people who don't compromise . . . and lack of respect for those who do. ;)

There is something to be said for people who stick to their guns (sorry, couldn't resist). It's so easy for people on the net (anonymously) to take all these brave stances, but how many of them get out in public and deal with the ridicule? I'm uneasy when actors take public stands on issues, but give Chuck his due...he was a true believer and never wavered. He handled his position with dignity, so agree or not, I gave him the benefit of a listen. It is truly a tough loss as an actor though. He was a force of nature, and I don't see anyone like him around now (maybe Ian McKellen?).

I remember when he took over as President of the NRA...members were very happy to see it happen. Why? Because he was a true believer in what he said and what he did. He was just what the NRA needed at the time...someone who truly believed and had the credibility and desire to work hard at his goals. And just for everyones info...his autobiography is a pretty good read indeed.

Then allow me to state publicly, I'm a NRA memeber! :D

Nothing wrong with that. There have been many situations where being an NRA member would open a few doors for us. However, being a gun owner *there's a suprise* I do respect what Charlton Heston stood for and the fact that he stood up for it in the face of overwhelming adversity. Perhaps a little brash in the way he did it, but still, respectworthy nonetheless.

Life member, here, competitor back in the day. Not now, though. There simply isn't enough time in the day for all the things I enjoy doing and slow-fire pistol had to go. Pity, that.

Dad's a life member as well--he's a master gunsmith who specializes in restoration of antique guns. Truly amazing work; I wish he had a website so I could brag about him. And my stepmother's a retired chief of police, so I grew up with lots of guns around the house.

Yes, let it be said that I also felt that Heston had the courage of his convictions,. The point of the cartoon isn't too say that he's wrong, it's just a completely, totally tasteless joke on the fact that he's dead.

Yes, well unfortunately there are those whom have no manners and will do anything to get a rise out of the public. That being said, it was once said "10% of the country are gun owners, 10% are anti-gun people, and 80% aren't sure which way they care. It is up to the gun owners to remain tasteful and act with respect at all times, in order to distance themselves from the rest."

On a side note, during high school I had the opportunity to write an editorial for my school newspaper with someone else writing the opposing view. The topic was over hunting, and I can proudly say that when the dust settled, I had garnered many people to the side of hunters after they read the articles. How did I do it? By maintaining that most hunters are professional people, whom willingly pay excise fees in order to maintain the parks and forests that the rest of us enjoy. She, on the other hand, took to the sadly typical attempt to point out that hunters are fools whom should not be allowed in the fields. My point rests...if we maintain our professional attitude, and continue to work hard, we can sway the country to understand our point of view.
