I have a question. Has anyone here tried Janine's website? I'm thinking of signing up and I would like to know what I would be getting for my money. I like her, I don't care that she doesn't do men on film, though it would be nice to see. BTW I know I could try the 'trial' but I only have checks, no credit and that isn't allowed.

Also, I love Literotica. But let's face it, this is a story site. And I like, uhhm, visual stimulation. Any answers would be appreciated.

Men vs. women

RazeByFire states that while he loves Literotica it's a story site and he needs visual stimulation. I hope I'm correct in my assumption that RazeByFire is male. The question is are men stimulated more by the visual, and, do women prefer the intellectual?

Some claim women prefer the written word to photos because they can imagine the man in anyway they desire, whereas, men prefer pictures to establish a psychological connection. They say when women are presented with a pic of a nude male they first admire and desire, then they begin to wonder about his qualities as a potential mate. When men see a pic of a naked woman they only admire and desire, they never even consider what kind of person she is, they frankly don't care. Is this true?

I suspect there are more women on this Board because, in the main, it holds true.

I have to agree with you , men are visual creatures while women tend to use thier imaginations and go beyond the naked pictures before them.

We women like pictures, too. Problem is, most adult movies & photos are geared to stimulate the man, not the woman. The action is usually focused on the woman's body. The men are secondary, and usually not as attractive as the women - chosen for their stamina and dick size. I'm not saying that the movies don't have to resemble Red Shoe Diary episodes to excite women. Many women like to watch explicit, raw sex just as much as men. The movies just need to star good looking, heterosexual men, and the camera work should focus on him, not the woman, so that the female viewer can put herself in the place of his lover - much as male-oriented videos allow men to place themselves as the star.

I personally believe that there are plenty of romantic men, and plenty of 'nasty', uninhibited women. I think that women's supposed "softer" sexual preferences are the result of nurture, not nature. We're taught that liking porn is "dirty" and "unladylike". While I think men may naturally have more active libidos in general, I think women are perfectly capable of enjoying all aspects and varieties of sex.

Isn't that because more men than women buy or rent porn, so it is geared to the male? I understood, correct me if I'm wrong, that women identified with the woman in the scene, vicariously experiencing what she goes through. Women may prefer hunky men but they identify with the woman. Also that they didn't really enjoy raw sex unless it had a psychological connection to it, they had to see the man as someone they could have sex with.

I would also beg to differ in the matter of male vs. female libidos. It has been my experience that women have far more active ones, they just learn to mask them better.

True. I don't know how to best explain it except to say that adult movies are generally not as appealing to women as they could be. Which is only fair, as men are the ones to whom the producers are gearing the films. But the fact that less women purchase and view porn isn't necessarily because they don't or wouldn't enjoy the visual aspect of sex, so much as it's that they're taught to be embarrassed by such sights. I've seen videos shot by women for women, and while some are better than others, they are more, um, effective than standard adult movies. IMHO, of course.

LMAO! You're a lucky man...

I'm not downplaying the physiological differences between men and women. Men are NOT women, and vice versa - thankfully! Vive le difference... However, I do believe that our needs are more similar than we realize. I think men need snuggles and reassurance more than they are allowed to admit, even to themselves. I think women enjoy racy photos and stories more than they are allowed to admit, even to themselves. That's all I'm saying. Ya know?

An interesting set of questions - and your suppositions may be true in general.

However, although I am a very visual person, still photos by themselves are not enough for me - I need the action and the written word, properly done does it better for me than photos do. Now a good movie with properly done erotic scenes can give me close to that same stimulation, but the typical X-rated video with just plain sex acts to me can actually be boring - it has to have love making not just plain sex.

I like the written word because I have always enjoyed reading and I can get lost in the story, feeling that I am actually living it. That said, I prefer the mixture of the word and the picture - the best of both worlds.

NO NO NO!!!!!

the rumor isn't true! not ALL men are visual only people.

I prefer the written word to a picture anyday IF possible!

Though pictures are nice SOMETIMES, as has been pointed out, the imagination takes over wtih the written word, and the people can look like whatever you want them to look like, which I guess brings a visual. SHIT! well, that theories completely BLOWN!

I am still curious as to the ratio of men to women on this Board. Does anybody know what it is? I know you can't be exact because by it's very nature it changes day to day, hell it changes hour to hour. But, in general, what would your best guesstimate be? 50-50? I still think there are more women than men here.

I personally love porn- the dirtier, the better. I wouldn't want to watch those cheesy videos for couples; I prefer the same stuff that guys like. I also enjoy reading porn, but when it comes to actually masturbating, it's a lot easier for me to do so while watching a movie than it is for me to do while reading. As for the potential mate thing, I think it depends on the individual. If I see a pic of a hot naked guy, I'm not concerend about his personality...

The Ratio is in room terms as what people say %10 straight males, %13 straight females, %2 gay men, %7 lesbians, %8 bi men, and %60 bi females

The Ratio in Reality is %10 straight males, %13 straight females, %2 gay men, %2 lesbians, %5 bi men and %10 bi women .... the other %58 in my opinion could be made up of gay men turning themslves on by imitating women to straight men, straight men deceiving bi women, so on and so forth.

Its only an opinion, I hope I didnt stir the chit.

I, too, hate those "fuck" films where there is absolutely no storyline to explain why anyone does whatever it is they do. They're just gangbang, you're dead. They get old real fast. Give me a reason for the action so I can enjoy it the more.

Or where the woman is supposedly abducted, but instead of showing fright, she suddenly transforms into the most willing and eager participant.
