Tornados

On the first night of my first ever visit to the US, I was sleeping on the floor of my brother's apartment in San Francisco, when a mag 6 earthquake occured. It was so cool, furniture moving across the floor. Another one happened a few days later while we were driving on the Golden Gate bridge.

All you get in England is a spot of drizzle, what
well i spent half a year in oklahoma and wasn't sure to be relieved or disappointed that there were no tornados there. i had been told before there would sure be. but there was a small earth quake, supposedly - the only thinkg i noticed was a plate falling down from the cupboard.

i did get to really notice a few of them in chile though. not strong ones, but enough to notice. first one was on the second morning after arriving at my host families. i was still asleep and woke up thinking someone is shaking my bed to wake me up.

Danielle's still offline?

Did I miss it or has she posted since the storm hit?

Nope. No sign of Dorothy or Toto or Toto, jr. Hope that root cellar has plenty of books and candles. And chocolate desserts.

Hope she rings in when it's all clear.

And our basement is messy, dang it.

We have tornado warnings in northern Kansas right now. I hope the batch coming our way doesn't send us downstairs.

Do you have plenty of chocolate? I mean, sure, water and all the rest is good to have, but there are necessities and there are necessities....

Of course.

No civilized Kansan can survive without vibrators, batteries, chocolate.

Oh - and well-charged cell phones, gameboys, storm radios and candles.

And rum.

we made it through no problem, no high winds but streets are flooded. I think it just slid south of the lakeshore

MOM!!! I'm home!!!

Made it through and my husband even made it home okay, damn it all. Me and Toto and Toto Jr. spent some time in close quarters and I found out that Yorkies are actually pussies when the wind starts blowing too hard. I also found out that I hate the stupid tornado siren, thing went off about four times tonight.

Adrian was hit hard, Tecumeh harder yet, we got side swiped. But there is more on the way, I expect to sleep good tonight listening to the sound of the rumble of thunder.

And thanks for watching out for me. I'm not ready to squish any wicked witches yet, though I do know of one that needs squishing bad. I'd probably miss.

Glad to hear you're safe.

It looks to be a crazy night.

Yeah, ain't it great, our power keeps going out and flickering. So I'm sitting in thedark except for my computer screen. I love the sound the thunder is making though, that long low rumbling that grows until it shakes the windows. Storms are fantastic.

Good to see you're safe :)

I swear I'm in some kind of a weather hole where I am now. I watch fronts, red as blood on the radar, riding up my hinder all the time, only to see them break up and go North and South by a few miles. Good for my nerves though, since I've got a youngin' now and that detracts from my ability to enjoy weather like I used to. Any hint of rotation or hail and I'm on emergency alert status.

I've been through a tornado before, up close and personal. I was across town at a friend's house when it hit, and he didn't have a basement. A couple of the neighbors didn't either, so we rode it out in a tunnel under the street. Seven people and four dogs, and the only ones to get smacked with debris were me and my friend :p Front row seats to things exploding against houses and fences.

Ooooh, the acid sounds lovely. I'll pass on the PF, though. Never really clicked with me.

Showing my vintage in this post.

Glad you and Toto made it, Danielle. Sounds dramatic and kind of sublime and beautiful (as long as nothing really bad happens.)

It's kind of a continuous high without the drugs, watching the lightning flashing and hearing the thunder with it's low rumbly grumble. The rain pounding on the roof and against the windows is actually very soothing, except for the fact that Toto one and two need to go outside...

Thanks all for caring. :rose:

I know, but I couldn't resist. Hey, if you someone puts you on Ignore does that mean you can't see their thread anymore. I think I got booted from the white supremist thread because I said something about David Duke being the grand marshal for this year's New York Gay Pride parade and poof-I get a notification of an additional posting but I can't get on it to see what someone said  I don't what the big deal is. Isn't he some black guy's bitch or something
