M35 Wagon to GTR conversion. :D
WANT!

And go figure PenIs would post that gaudy Bugatti. What are you compensating for? ;)

“I thought when I drove the Mitsubishi Evo X the other day, that there was no way the GTR could be worth twice as much money, well, I just thought there was no way it could be twice as good, but, it is and some! They (Nissan) haven’t built a new car. They have built a new yardstick”!

Yeah....1st place vs Am. competitors...in 2006.

Well, the first place stuff wasn't what I was getting at but........just a good, clean, not overly done, sleeper. Of course, if you know performance cars, the intercooler and blowoff valve is a dead give away. And 977 wheel hp puts it around 1200 hp at the flywheel.

The Viper? As a sleeper? Next to what? Koenigseggs?

Yup. Sleeper. Street races in Houston and Austin, it's not surprising to see them getting their asses handed to them by a Grand National or Porshe. I have seen it first hand. Of course, down there it's not odd to see a Lam that has had an extra $50 grand plus dumped into it and from the outside you'd never know.

Are we talking quarter mile drag racing?

That's where you use your most torque at, the takeoff and straight line acceleration.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see the value of that kind of "racing." Sure, there's adrenalin, and fun times, and excitement, and it's an American cultural thing, but, on a modern car, you can write the software to do all that better than any driver.
That, to me, is a waste of a car.

Yes it is part of American culture. Majority of exotic cars are nothing but race cars that have been made legal to drive on the street. What would be the point in having a powerful car and not using the power? Legally you can't use it on the streets (not supposed to) so people take them to the tracks. The Evo is based on a race car. the Ferrari is based on a race car. The Suburu WRX. Lot's of them are. Just a hobby for lots but there are some that make a great living out of it. I have personally seen doctors, lawyers, accountants, people that you would never expect to be racing exchanging thousands of dollars on races. Hell, even knew a judge that loved it.

I get it. More power to whoever, and I don't care if they're legal or not (making them illegal, just like the Prohibition, is just straight up idiotic).
I'm talking about taking them around a race track, 'cause that's where the driver's skill comes out. But, yeah, it's a point where I can agree to disagree.
