ok back down to reality. 4.33 with 27 votes. That's more realistic for it's story. but my overlord status of all group stories though only lasting mere minutes shall go down in history as a benchmark of storytelling mastery..or most likely just be forgotten in a day.

I have. A couple chapters of Pretty Baby, I Believe, and Spirit Of Love were all (and sometimes, in the case of PB, still occasionally are) #1 for a while.

Category counts for everything. Celebs is difficult because you immediately limit your readership to those who know/like the series.

Liked your loving wives story but you are real brave. Anyone who dabbles their without having an unfaithful wife tarred and feathered deserves a medal or should be wearing a flak jacket.

4.95 with 20 votes, and 4.94 with 48 votes for me. Both Laresa stories. I have a few others in the 4.9s.

Easier to do in Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Chain than a lot of cats. For some reason, the trolls don't hit those cats as hard - and those who read the categories seem to be inclined toward voting high or not at all, moreso than other categories.

I'll never debut with a perfect 5 in the toplists any time when I'm at the computer, because I'll bomb my own story with a 4 when I see it hit nine 5s. If you hit perfect five and reach the toplists, the trolls will hit you in a relentless barrage until the toplists update.

Yeah, the celebrity stories were my first ever dabble in writing. They were well recieved in the fan community, so I figured I'd try them on a wider audience. They got the reception I expected

I wrote that Loving Wives story off the cuff one night after trying to figure out the "Loving Wives" category name. I kinda like it and am tempted to expand it into a proper story instead of the brief piece it is now.
And the trolls haven't attacked with much force. They've downvoted it but said nothing. It's sitting around 3.75 last I looked, but everytime there's a sweep it rises

I've got three out of six chapters of Pretty Baby at 4.9 or above. Ch. 02 is 4.9 with 42 votes, Ch. 03 is 4.95 with 41 votes, and Ch. 05 is 4.94 with 18 votes. All three of those manage to remain within the top 50 of Novels and Novellas.

Granted, of course, that N&N is not read that much, and I figure it is mainly my fans that read Pretty Baby.

First of, congratulations!

Secondly, go to User CP at the upper left-hand corner of the forum screen, then clikc on 'Edit Signature' Put in a link to your stories from there. The best way to do that is to search for your own stories, get to the page that has them (or in your case, as of now, 'it') listed, and copy the link in the navigation bar. Then paste that link into your signature.

Really, that's up to you. I take pride in the fact that I have 25 stories with 25 'H' icons next to them. But I have also read some real quality work that does not sport that coveted 'H.' Some of Darkniciad's work isn't voted very high, yet I find them compelling.

When it comes to contests, the rating is most important, regardless of number of votes. But for me, I like to see the number of views go up. That shows that people are either returning, or new readers just dig my work.

Well, those votes and numbers are good, especially for a first-time author. But, preliminary results can be misleading. Your votes may drop (due to 'sweeps') and so may your rating. if you hold to 4.5 or higher after a month, you're pretty much in the clear.

Always depends on the category. The mainstream ones, erotic couplings, romance, first time, even incest, seem to get a much higher view and vote count than others.

As well as slyc's good advice, you can put a link in a post by clicking on the little globe in the toolbar and following the instructions. You can also 'pretty up' the link by using the name of your story.
