Today vs. History

It is my contention that TODAY...is a great day. Not for each individual alive right now and their particular circumstances, but for the statistical gains that we've made in culture, in science, in medicine, in art.

Now, for me specifically things are better 'cause...

I'm a girl and I can vote.
I can take medication for migraines and not be burned as a witch for being possessed by demons.
I can read and again, I won't be burned as a witch for doing so.
I can be employed and it's not as only a sex worker or scullery maid or seamstress.
I have a computer and I can talk to you guys for just about no cost compared to my daily budget. Through computers and cellphones and cultural exchanges I have access to so much art and content.

I thank my ancestors and the ancestors of others for giving me the world I live in now, I'll try to make it better, but sometimes I surf for kitten videos instead.

Kitten videos make the world better and they're hypoallergenic. We know what that means now! Not that the devil put his hand on us and grants us boils and pustules. Burn the kitten!

How are things better for you today than if you had lived in history.

Or conversely, what do you think is better then, and why?
