thank you flyguy69 for mentioning me with the pile of new poets (I thought poets travelled in flocks, but piles works too) and to Lebroz and MyEroticTail for commenting on my poems.

Sixteen New Poems today, including a pile of new poets.

Here are my recommendations:

Are in love with ManRay? He's in love with you! His Poems about you... is a pleasantly plaintive piece, but his real hit today is the clever Locked Door, that uses layout and a subtle touch to take us into the bedroom.

eagleyez struggles with insomnia in Requiem for a Night's Sleep, a prosey poem that feels simultaneously sleepy and restless.

Liar is seduced with Smoke and Mirrors, which displays his trademark rollicking style but struggles to meld two different metaphors, IMO.

There are several new poets that need your encouragement. Say hello to:

Sealace, who offers an etymological epithalamic in Semi-paternal,

Mitzi36B, who laments his gender assignment in If Only...,

tonia0476, who muses on an absent lover in Your Body, Your Mind,

Miss Jordan, who recounts her affinity for a musician in The Guitar Men,

spanishamazon76, who Dreams of cunnilingus and

Roze_kisses, who has asked for advice on the simple verse Died for Love.

what happened in the threads today??
there are no poems listed with the date the 18th...but I have two that came out today and are in my regular member listing but not under their illustrated category link or the new poems link...
never seen that happen before i was just wondering...
there are links to them both in my siggy...

Pink and White Stripes
and
C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S

They are nothing spectacular or anything...
but they should have been in the link of new poems from the main page at least! LOL ;)

have a great weekend all.....I'll be sitting in the snow! ;)
(who knows...could be good material for more poems! LOL)

New Poems

DeepAsleep - I'm sorry you had to start again, but at least you weren't on 1-29.

I fell asleep with my half-bearded
face in a poetry anthology
that calls itself a bible.

fancy that I like d.a. levy's poems.

poems about concrete and
post-script angels in my head
I slept between words dedicated
to fucking or something edgy
like that.

I was drunk and snored into the
page, i drooled in my book
it felt like highschool study hall
all over again and I woke up
wondering why sleeping on
such soft ideas
gave me a stiff neck.

are you sure it's a stiff neck you woke up with?

Tristesse said:
We would clamour,
yammering for attention
jousting for position,
correcting the pecking order
at his knee and Da,
tamping sweet tobacco
ready for the match
would hold us at bay
sucking his teeth with a look,
of simulated agony.

"I have a bone in my leg."

The small tribe would turn
muttering in disappointed sympathy
to find another adult.

That is wonderful! You made that delightful memory live. :)

You are wicked and should be burned at the stake.

or burn against my stake.

Whatever.

It's close enough to sacrifice, right...?

I confess to a creeping discomfort with one of the topics here: threads that do not want off-topic posts. I fear that this well-intentioned requirement can spawn some unpleasant results.

That requirement seems to contradict the egalitarian spirit of the forum. Much as we say that once a poem is released into the wild the author surrenders control to readers and critics, thread starters should also be expected to tolerate alternative views of the purposes of the thread. On threads recently started for acrimonious debate some posters deliberately added silly, off-topic posts in an attempt to defuse the tension. I suspect the thread starters would have seen that as irritating distraction from the original intent, but it served a legitimate purpose in the minds of the posters.

I don't know that for sure, which may be the most important point. Since I can't know what service my threads will provide others, I must surrender some of the control to them. This cyber space is none of our personal domains, and none of us can legitimately restrict what others might want to say about anything we post.

I recognize there are situations in which compromising this principal benefits the community as a whole-- poems posted for contest evaluation, perhaps even reviews. But as a general rule I am opposed to any restrictions on the participation of other members.

BTW did you see Eve's AV yesterday, I liked it. What do you think? I mean tits and ass are fine, but we all know Eve has those. I hate this new clevage shot, makes me tense.

Don't give me the big smiley face. Act up too much with me, and I'll remove an entire butt check of yours with a dull pencil.

chiimplet, I don't have to approve it. You should be able to join, sign in, and look around that part of the site without any problem.
