To Fall or to be the Fool

If you've ever seen the movie, "City of Angels", you'll understand what I'm talking about. There is an Angel named Seth that falls in love with a mortal woman. Seth is immortal, he lives a painfree life, but can not feel the touch of a human hand. He gives up his life as an angel (he falls from heaven) to be with the woman he loves. He learns that reality can be harsh, but he finds himself in the arms of the woman he loves. They spend one blissful night in the moutains together. She is killed the next day while riding her bike back from the grocery store.

My question is this:

Is is worth gving up everything you are, to spend even one moment with the one you truly love and who loves you the same or is this just a fool's folly?

I remember that movie very well.

I believe that, in reality, real love would never require you to be anything that you aren't. Seth was an angel...immortal. It's like falling in love with a mermaid......would you give up living on land to live your life under the sea with the one you love?

I ache for the "big love". The passionate love. But I could never give up who I am to have it.

Yes, but being an angel didn't define WHO seth was, only what he was.

HE was a lonely being who had found love.

There are things and parts of my life I would give up for the right person.

Sure. I would give up everything for one time with the one true love. Anything for her. I would give eternity for just one kiss. As lame as that may sound to some I think that for the right person there is nothing to great to give. Take care. Later.

Just my thoughts

Love is the ultimate pleasure to obtain.. If you find it then you have found something rare and I belive it is precios enough to sacrifice everything for that rare feeling even if it was for one night. At least I wouldn't regret anything in the end

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I guess I'd agree with MissTaken. There are parts of my life that I would give up. This may include things that I might have thought were important to me. But I would gladly do this if it meant my true essence would emerge and grow with that person.

I'm just not sure how I would react if that person were suddenly taken from me, for reasons beyond my control.

City of angels is one of my all time favourite films it makes me cry everytime. Yes I believe true love is worth giving up everything for,I truely believe that spending time with a person you truely,honestly ,passionately love is beyond price.

I hear what you have all said. But really think about the pain associated with only having a moment - moments with that person. How could you go on with your life after that - knowing what you lost?
