Do you prefer to cum or come? (I know the answer is "yes", so we can move on from that...)

Does it make a difference if it's a noun or a verb? Author preference? Do you base it on the type of story (more v less graphic)?

Thanks for your help with this sticky problem.

This issue arises frequently here. The answer is to do what you prefer; just be consistent.

The term is evolving (toward "cum" as both noun and verb to distinguish it from other meaning), but the current best practice among erotica publishers is "come" as a verb and "cum" as a noun.

We will now have a largely irrelevant running litany of "this is how I do it."

Think about it next time

During you next orgasm stop and think about the terms: Cum VS Come. Give consideration to all of the factors. Pause or a minute to ask your partner what they think. Maybe a few seconds to look in a modern dictionary would be helpful. Call trusted friends and get their thoughts. Have the terms changed over the years? Perhaps. Why not call your mom and dad and ask what was more acceptable in their day. After collecting the needed information you can go back to your orgasm knowing that you are cuming or coming.

For a definitive answer, call ten friends. (O, come all ye faithful.) Ask each of them to call ten friends. Make banners. Come, come, come and make eyes at me / Down at the old Bull and Bush. Here comes the sun. Start a parade. Seventy-six trombones – if you think that will help. Come together. Right now. Over me.

There. Does that help?

(I somehow thought not.)

:)

Come as the verb and cum as the noun. I don't like "cummed" as the past tense verb. Yuck.

But as KeithD points out it's all just a matter of personal preference. Do what you want and be consistent.

I agree with SimonDoom—please do not use “cummed”! But I’m not a grammarian. As an avid reader I just humbly request to you excellent authors that you please write stories that make come and cum :D

I prefer come as the verb and cum as the noun. As long as it makes sense and reads okay who cares? But as SimonDoom says “cummed?” 😡

My preferences:
  • 'Come' for drawing near, unrelated to orgasms.
    - "Come again" can be a cute triple-entendre.
  • 'Cum' for both noun and present-tense verb.
  • 'Cumming' as present-tense verb, but see 'came' below.
  • 'Coming' as present-tense verb, mainly for comic effect.
    - Mom yells from outside: "Peter! Where are you? What are you doing?"
    - Peter, deeply embedded in an orifice: "Ungh, ungh... coming, Mother!"
  • 'Came' as past-tense verb but IMHO better replaced by more descriptive language.
    - "Her orgasm swept over her like a tsunami" beats "She came like a hurricane".
  • 'Cummed' as past-tense verb -- no no no no.
Of course, rules are disposable in dialog. People say the weirdest shit. "Pa done cummed and cummed all over me, and my hair is a sticky mess!"

IMHO usage of various tenses of 'cum' and 'came' depends on whether they're in formal narration, or dialog or informal narration. A hick narrator can write they they 'cummed'. But it still seems icky.

I dislike “cum” for whatever reason. I only use come (to refer to both semen and orgasm).
