TLC Singer Killed in Car Crash

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, the effervescent, sometimes volatile rapping member of the Grammy-winning trio TLC, was killed in a car crash in Honduras, her record company said early Friday.

Lopes, who would have turned 31 next month, was in the Central American nation for a vacation, Arista Records' senior vice president of publicity Laura Swanson told The Associated Press. Lopes was reportedly among seven people in the car Thursday night and the only fatality.

I'm not a TLC fan, but the girl was only 30. Very sad.

Its tragic when any one dies prematurly, but especailly so when it is an artist whose life affected so many others. Her youth makes it that much more tragic.

Wow, there seem to be many celebrity deaths right now. My brain won't work, but someone else in the music business just died, he was found in his home dead from an overdose. I need more coffee, he was part of the grunge movement, any one remember who it was?

It was the lead singer for Alice in Chains, cant remember his name though.

YES! Lane Staley? I think?

Sorry to hijack Laurel, but it is amazing how many musicians have died recently.

Wasn't she the little firestarter? I remember when they first came on the scene, they did a music video about safe sex and she had a condom over her eye like a monocle. Years later the band was bankrupt because of corrupt management.

I think I've been watching too much 'Behind The Music'. Odd that out of seven passengers, she was the only fatality.

That sucks so bad. They (TLC) were a really interesting group. They tended to be positive and deal with women's issues. As for Lisa Lopez, she was also a producer and founded several other girl groups, which were fairly talented.

Yeah, she started a fire, her boyfriend's house. They had a torrid and possibly (it was accused but as far as I know not proven) that her boyfriend beat her up and she returned the favor. So, she set his house on fire.

Yes, it is very odd that out of seven, she was the only fatality. Sad that she died and even more tragic that she was talented and only thirty years old.

Just for reference, here are some songs TLC sang, in case you don't recognize TLC, Left Eye or who the hell we are talking about:

Waterfalls- you know, "Don't go chasing waterfalls..."

Creep- "So I creep, cause she don't know what I know..." etc.

Unpretty- I don't remember the words but it dealt with women's self esteem issues. A really good song.

Sad. Very sad.

Her boyfriend was Andre Rison at the time. A great football player, but not exactly known for being stable or mild-tempered.

I remember that happening but don't remember many of the details about it.

What is scary is that not only have I seen this behind the music show,I even have seen it when it was re-shown.

She won't have to worry 'bout No Scrubs now!

OUCH, that's not nice. True but not nice.

I didn't approve of half the things the media reported about her doing that were illegal. They were downright scary in fact. But I did listen to their music, and liked it even. Too bad to hear this first thing after waking up.

The group was pretty hot on the charts back in the day, but she's really on fire now...

it just goes to show...

none of us know when we have breathed out last. Young or old, rich or poor, black or white, etc.

You have to live as if you won't wake up the next day....

cause you may not!

Like no one on Literotica has done anything illegal.

I personally make a habit of it.

What a shame for someone so young to have passed.

How many people at Lit have "allegedly" burned down a $750,000 home to get back at a "lover"?

I was commenting about HER, not anyone at Lit.

Low...

This wasn't a 100 year-old gin-soaked billionaire dying in her sleep. This was a young woman dying from the impact of car windshield probably crushing her skull and shattering her bones.

Missy, I know you might feel the need to be funny, but that wasn't. It was just low and crass and desperate.

tsk! tsk!
