Title 42 Extended by SCOTUS

The "current border crisis is not a COVID crisis," he wrote in his dissent. "And courts should not be in the business of perpetuating administrative edicts designed for one emergency only because elected officials have failed to address a different emergency. We are a court of law, not policymakers of last resort

How about the emergency being the border itself? Open borders are proving to be the disaster anyone with common sense would think they'd be.

If you want a democrat to see that, just send some border crossers to their city.

We don't have open borders. Are you living outside of the US?

I don't care what party sees anything...title 42 was a policy created by the previous administration to deal with the pandemic.

That has nothing to do with policy decisions beyond that

Same emergency during DJT term, and the pandemic was the only thing that seemed to “help” it.

Using a COVID measure to address it is wrong. There are suggestions out there and congress needs to act.

You dont know dick....try and stay informed and quit repeating what the stinking media says, its lying.

July 1, 1944

The name refers to Title 42 of the U.S. Government Code established July 1, 1944. The law grants federal authorities the power to deny entry of people and products into the country to limit the spread of a communicable disease.

As I'm sure you were aware before you went into your "distract/deflect" dance, the issue isn't the existence of Title 42; it's the use of Title 42. Donald Trump invoked it for the first time--in 2020.

So...what disease are they bringing in that isn't already here? Can't have it both ways. If there is an issue with Covid...why not wear masks? Or get vaccinated? Why not just up your dose of cow wormer? Or shoot up some bleach?

Yep ..and it was used due to the pandemic. There is no reason to use it anymore and is just being used to avoid creating better legislation to address immigration issues.

But the conservatives like the drastic limits it puts on immigration, so they are willing to keep a COVID policy.

But it will be soooooo much different with Speaker _______.

Have they decided yet?

Both parties enjoy the cover it gives them

Don’t see Democratic governors taking the exec branch to court to keep title 42 going for you?
Biden has been both for and against continuing the policy.

Neither party wants to address the issues at the border...else there would be legislation crafted to address resource issues

The president tried to end it and has been stuck with it because of conservative legal pressure. So he is keeping it because he is required to.

He has a plan, and has sent it to congress. Just waiting on them to act.

The numbers being deported by the policy tell a different story.

I'll be happy to see the Republicans' plans on immigration reform--or even evidence of them supporting/contributing to bipartisan plans. Until then they (and the board Trumpettes) are just a bunch of lying hypocrites on this issue.

Beyond that, I wonder why there being/not being Title 42 in play has to do with much of anything. Administrations can use law as they seem fit/able. Title 42 has been law for more than a hundred years. It was invoked only once, though, in 2020. So what if it's a law on the books? It's something an administration can use or not (it provides permission on turning immigrants back on health concerns; it doesn't actually effectuate this happening). The Biden administration has no reason to care it's still in effect. It provides them some cover until and unless the Republicans actually agree to do something about fixing the issue. As long as the RNC is the party of racism, sedition, and domestic terrorism this isn't likely to happen.

Weird how they keep building walls and only more illegals come across.

People won't like this. Fentanyl goes one way....guns go the other. Illegals are just a pawn. Fix the real issue and all 3 problems disappear.

The issue with Republicans and the board Trumpettes isn't immigration--it's brown people coming into the country to dilute white supremacy. We need more immigrants to fill in low-rung jobs. Donald Trump himself has unsuccessfully tried to get immigrants cleared to work his Virginia winery vineyards. If this was Norwegians illegally crossing in from Canada, Republicans and the board Trumpettes would have no problem.

Unfortunately, most of them coming up from the south and gathering at the border to come in arrive with only what they can carry, yes. If they have professional credentials, they can't exercise them for a good long time in the States and most of them have been stripped bare of assets by the cartels to get as far as they've gotten. Most immigrants start in low-rung jobs in the States and work their way up. Let's be real about this. This has been true with most waves of immigration into the States. My first-arriving ancestor on the paternal side came in before the Revolution--but to Georgia, which was a penal colony, so there's little question where he started once here. The material ancestor came much later, but he came because there had become too many family mouths to feed in England and some of the family had to go somewhere else--with just the clothes on their back.

It's worse for the folks coming up from the south now. Their countries are economically bust, much because of climate change, and crime and militancy are so high the choices are walk away or die.
