Titans: The Revised Adventures RP

Donna left the other girl to do as she needed, she understood having to see to family. Besides Donna wans't so sure she wanted anyone else around her when she saw Roy. She walked through the poeple finally spotting that unmistakable red hair.

He looked bad, she gasped, hand coming over her mouth as she immediatly dropped to her knees beside him.

"Oh..Roy."

Her hand, ever so gently pushed the long bangs out of his face, turnign to drag knuckles softly down his cheek. He looked like one big bruise, black and blue all over. He was banadged and some still faintly stained scarlet speaking of the blood underthem. His ribs were wrapped tightly, suggesting they might be broken or fractured.

"Whoever did this to you will pay. I promise you."

He looked like he was sleeping, so quiet and still. She'd never seen him like this and didn't like itin the least.

OOC: Ghost never posted himself leaving, so why is everyone letting their guard down?

“Have you forgotten the villain is still here?!” growled Mina, turning to Ghost. Summoning her claws and wings again, she dove at him, slashing.

Ghost stumbled backwards suddenly, backpedaling as this strange Titan lunged at him. Pressing his back against the back wall, Ghost sucked in a breath and attempted to phase through.

Nothing happened.

His eyes went wide with surprise and for the first time he realized he wasn't wearing his sunglasses. His true form was too light sensitive, had to wear dark glasses just to operate in daylight...but he wasn't wearing them, didn't need them!

Ghost took a moment to fully examine his body, his white floor length jacket replaced by a strange black coat, heavy boots on his feet and strange gloves on his hand.

His eyes snapped back to the Titan attack him. Ghost held his hands to his sides in a defensive posture but he was uncertain of what power he still had. Perhaps...he was simply human now.

"Never should've left the Kryptonian", He muttered under his breath.

You are a creature of fear...to this fear I have given rage and all the power that comes with it.

The dark voice of Trigon thundered within Ghost's mind, blotting all else out.

Shadowy clouds began to collect around his hands.

Concussed Roy.

(OOC: if this post seems a little confusing Good it's meant too. Roy's a little confused. And a concussion really screws with you. Last time I had one it was all I could do to blink and keep myself from drooling when I talked.)

Roy had been placed in a corner. Sitting braced by the walls he leaned on. Somewhere in his head he was there. Somewhere anyway. That part of him that was Roy was sounding like everything else. Like it was screaming through layers of bubble wrap. The world looked like that too. A blurred vision like through the bottom of a g;lass. Everything was so far away and so close all at once. With a fuzzy aura around everything. His mouth tasted like fuzz too, and he smacked his lips trying to get the taste out.

Was Terra Ok, and that other girl? Um Blackfire Star's sister. If she was was Star Ok. Star. Dick. Was Dick alive even. Roy tried to stand and failed, His balance was gone. And his eyes were closed. He opened them and blinked. He swore they were open though. He blinked again, just the world went dark and then came back. Fuzzy and strange everything sounded so far away, and looked like it was so close up.

People were talking, Hollow voices saying something, and the two Stars, the two Blacks, were saying something. Something about Robin. he strained to hear when a hand touched his face, knuckles dragging softly to brush his bangs out.

"Oh..Roy."

Who was there? he couldn't see. He almost called out Dinah, but it was wrong. He opened his eyes, Dark hair, like the deepest pitch. Soft eyes and a concerned look. And a Wonder Woman costume. He could swear that it was Donna, the voice so far away sounded like hers. Like Bells on a clear morning. the face, the body it was perfection. Could it be? Was it Donna, was she Wonder Woman? No. Wonder Woman was someone else. Was Wonder Woman checiking on him? No. So who was in front of him?

"Whoever did this to you will pay. I promise you."

That was Donna. Donna was vowing revenge for him. She still cared, and what had he done? What had he done last night? with Terra this morning? Oh spirits he'd told Grant that he was coming back for her. And here she was. Taking care of him, like Dianh did Ollie. Did Ollie ever push Dinah like this? Roy couldn't remember right this second. He couldn't remember a lot. But he still cared about her. He still wanted her, and wanted to be beside her. And he by now surely wasn't worth her. But he'd make himself worth her, he'd prove himself. But now.

Roy reached a hand out as well to touch her face, that flawless face. Dirty hands covered in grit, dust, and sheet rock. Dried blood that would touch her skin. And Roy recoiled his hand. Dropping it lifeless.

"Donna. I'm sorry."

"No, Robin!!," Starfire wailed, falling against her sister's shoulder and crying. "He can't be..." She peered over Blackfire's shoulder to Ashton as he spoke, her lips shaking. "But where is he? Why can we not find him? Something terrible has happened to him, and we cannot assist him... This is not right!" She buried herself against her sister once more. "I only wish to have my Robin returned to me. I would do anything for him, sister..."

Holding her sister tightly. "Sister I know not what has been done to him but I will do everything in my power to get him back for you," Blackfire said quietly into her ear, "I will find his fate and I will make whoever has taken him from you pay Little one. I will do what has to be done to avenge your heart."

Rocking her gently she looked at Bladesman. "Do you know these people that assaulted your tower? I must find them. There is a payment to be made to them for this grief they have given my sister," Komi said, "There is much payment I wish to give them." The last was said with an edge to her voice.

"Now sister, tell me more of this Robin. I need to know his face so that if he still lives I can bring him back to you as unharmed as possible," Komi muttered allowing some pain into her voice, "I will sully my hands with the payment due. I will not allow my sister to become as besmirched as I am."

Ashton had been considering that himself. They had called themself The Hive. What did he know about them. They were a bunch of kids with super powers, from the looks. This Slade was their headmaster, or leader, or whatever. Slade...why did that name sound familiar. Something recent, he thought. Then he remembered a news article about a soldier who got shot in the face by his wife over their children. He wondered if that was the same guy. Then his mind started reviewing possible hideouts for such a group. He watched the change that came over Blackfire in regards to her sister. He couldn't tell if it was genuine concern, or something else, but it was endearing. He shook his head, then went back to thinking.

"I wish I had access to a computer right now. And maybe someone who can hack like no tomorrow. They called themselves The Hive. As far as I know, it's some sort of academy for villains in training. I have no idea where it's located, though. But they've made this personal. One of them trashed my truck on the way out, not to mention kidnapping my best friend. Then there's all the damage they did, all the people they hurt. My blades will taste their blood for what they've done. I promise this."

"Would that machine man be able to help? Is there not a way to bring him back so he could help us find these Hive people?" Komi asked, "We must find them soon so that we can bring my sister's boy back. So they can pay for what they've done."

She continued to hold her sister tight. "Kori, this is the sort of thing that led me down the path I had chosen. Let me do what must be done so you are not scarred like I am. Let me keep you from darkening your spirit with the blood that must be shed."

Ashton considered for a moment. "His systems are out of power. He needs a recharge. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do so, nor do I know what technology it would use. But, I might know someone who does." He pulled a cell phone out of a small hidden pouch and dialed Doc Stone.

Superboy finally rose to his feet. Rotating his shoulder to work the kinks out before rising to his feet. His body was still slightly sluggish but everything seemed to work well enough. His tactile TK field was back up and as strong as ever and his injuries were nothing that some time in the sun wouldn't fix. It was a shame he couldn't enjoy himself as Starfire tended to his gashes and cuts, but there was superhero work to be done.

"Matter of fact...it looks like a job for Superboy" He smiled to himself before approaching the other Titans from behind.

"I think I can help find Robin" He spoke up. Despite the tears and shreds in his clothing, the S-shield on his chest was untouched, crossing his arms in front his chest the clone of Superman continued, "When that guy was...in my head..the connection went both ways. I don't know why they want Robin but I'm pretty sure I know where they took him"

That was heard. It was faint and barely there. Like half an echo reaching out, and Roy couldn't stand it. The girl, Angel, she died and this Asshole was worried about his truck? He slammed tons of civilians and his own team against the wall with no warning. Civilians were dead, maybe his best friend and the Truck was the first thing he mentioned? The damage they caused.

Roy got up, shakily but sure, and walked. Past Donna and he kept walking. to this punk this Ashton. Here he was talking to Blackfire again, the woman he had already made comments about sucking his dick, like there was nothing wrong. Who didn't make a distiction or take charge. Roy swung and crashed his Fist frimly into Ashton's Jaw, crackign something in his hand. the Swing almost put him on the ground and he clutched his side with the pain of moving it.

Roy yelled it hurt but he yelled anyway. The words just pouring out of his mouth.

"Angel DIED. YOUR FREIND. YOUR TEAM MATE DIED and I put him away and you're concerned with the TRUCK. YOU slammed civilians and me and ROBIN your friend into a wall last night, Indiscrimnately. Some of those people are dead, little people. Civilians. Died, and you're not concerned or saying anything."

Roy's voice broke he almost felt like crying, and the yell grew hoarse with a cough. But he continued. Shouting at the shocked people in the room. "Do any of you know I viewed her body Saturday. That I identified her corpse because she had no family? Do any of you know how many, JUST HOW MANY bodies I'm going to see when I hit work?"

Roiy did cry pain and emotion forcing tears out. "And here like this is some fucking gang war you're discussing revenge, going back hittin' 'em tonight. Like it's some contest. how many you gonna kill? Huh? Y'know when Robin, told me that you were co-leader and he invited me to be apart of this team, I didn't think I was joining a gang. I didn't think I had turf to protect. I thought I was joining other heroes. I thought I was going to save lives, and make a difference with people who could make a difference. That I'd meet someone to take my mind off of Donna, but it all follows me."

He stared at Donna, "But since I came here I've become some kind of bad guy, and some kind of scum."

Roy tried to take a few steps towards the dor. Scooping up his Bow and Arrows on the way out the door. He turned back to Ashton almost daring the man to do something. Even though Roy knew he couldn't take it right now.

"But you're nothing but a thug."

"But you're nothing but a thug."

Blackfire couldn't let Kori go but she did manage to hold a hand out to Roy and called to him as he turned to leave, "Roy, please friend. I am new to this world. Forgive me if my idea of vengence isn't appropriate here. Please, you were one of the first two people on this world I met. Please do not leave my sister and I. We being new to this world need guidance in your customs."

Now damn it girl. She managed to just catch the side of her tongue with her teeth bringing tears to her eyes.

"Would you leave us this way?" She cried.

Ashton staggered slightly at the fist that came his way. He hadn't seen it coming, and it hit hard. He rubbed his jaw, listening to his tirade. Then he shook his head, and spoke quietly and calmly. "While we're on the track of dead people, let's add Vic Stone, who no longer exists. He was killed by some bastard who threw him through three walls and out into the street four stories below. His father rebuilt his body, turning him into something new. That something new may be dying because he fought the guys that put you in the condition you're in right now. And then there's the fact that Robin's missing. We don't know if there's anyone else injured, because we don't know if everyone was gone. I found no one in the rubble, but I'm not infallible. I damned sure wish I were, because it would mean we'd have won, instead of nursing our wounds. And we still don't know what happened to Mina, this Slade, or Ghost. We're all fighting to protect something. For each of us it's different. For me, it's my family and my friends. As for my truck, that's just something that pisses me off, considering I built it myself. What about you? Surely you've had something that you would kill if it got destroyed. Something you constructed with your own two hands, piece by piece?"

Ashton winced slightly, feeling a little woozy again. The hit must have done something to his already shaky stance. But he shook it off, and continued to glare at him. "Before you go badmouthing us, remember this. We got our arses handed to us. That makes us look bad as the people who are supposed to be doing the protecting. We're supposed to be the heroes, the protectors. We're supposed to know what to do, when to do it. And quite frankly, I think Robin's the only one who fits that bill." With that, he sat down, and closed his eyes.

Roy listened silently. The man was allowed his piece. People were still out there, which was another reason that going to attack these people wasn't what he'd do. they needed a leader, Well it certainly wasn't going to be him now. Guy wasn't infallible how about half way intelligent, if he was supposed to be the back up leader why was attacking his strategy?

Vic, Roy had seen Vic, had watched His charred Body after he sailed out through the window. He'd moved it from bane, Had watched Violet take it to a better place. Now he was this cyborg. Poor Vic.

Piece by piece. he'd built that bike piece by piece. The negine the frame, everything bit by Bit with Dinah. With parts she'd sent him. After Donna never showed he'd really needed the time. And now it broke, so what. It was a thing.

This guy was still concerned with winning, with an image. More thuggery. Looking bad in front of the people they were supposed to protect. Ollie never looked good to thoe people he protected, but he did protect people. Just another way Roy came up short on his mentor. Knowing really wasn't good enough, he had to do it too.

"Robin isn't the only one who fits that bill, but he's the only one here I guess. I certainly am not here to help you."

Roy turned to talk to Blackfire.

"Blackfire I wish I could help youand your sister. I do. Star, Black, I wish I could, but I'm just not good enough to be that person. Care for the fallen, treat the injured and above all else, take care of the weak. All I can tell you."

Roy turned to Connor, "I'm sorry I got you mixed in this, that I sent you to that, but that's all I can say. I don't know why you were the target but I'm sorry it was you."

Finally Roy tuned he had as many words for Donna as for Vic. He was still sorry and words wouldn't change that. His ribs ached his vision blurred But he walked. Towards the door towards the outside. Anywhere but here.

"Coward!" Blackfire said through the tears. Once she got them started it was easy to get them really flowing.

"If you won't help and guide me in your world's ways let this also stand on your head Roy. I am going to kill those that have hurt you and Starfire's Robin," Running her hand through Starfire's hair, "I had none to guide me on my own home and I was scarred for it. I asked. You denied. Each of these Villains' lives I take will be on your head if you don't help me to get Robin back."

Ashton sighed, then shook his head. Things were rapidly getting worse. They needed a plan. More than that, they needed to make sure everyone was okay. He hadn't been able to get ahold of Doc Stone, unfortunately. He rubbed his jaw again with one gloved hand, and looked up at the retreating figure of Roy. He wondered if Robin knew Green Arrow. Ashton sure didn't, but he would have bet everything he owned that the old archer might have some advice for them all.

"The sad thing is...he's right. I don't know what to do. I wonder how Robin does it." He looked up at those gathered around, trying to take comfort from them. Sighing, he shook his head again. First thing was first. They had to get Cyborg and the other injured back up. The civilians had to be taken to a hospital. "Connor, wasn't it? I need you to get Cyborg to Doc Stone's lab at STARR Labs. He'll be able to repair and recharge him. Think you can do that?" Without waiting for an answer, he turned to Starfire and her sister.

"We need to make sure these people get to a hospital. If you can, get Roy to some kind of doctor. That is, assuming he'll let you. Wonder Girl, I'll leave that to you. Don't tell him it was my idea though." He stretched, and slowly stood up. "Are Raven and Beast Boy still around?"

"Shhhh Roy, don't talk. And don't apologize. I'm here and you're going to be fine."

He felt guilty, well..he really had no reason to but somehow it hurt her to think he did. Maybe there was still something between them, maybe..just maybe...

Roy refused to lie still, pulling himself to stand and have a fight with that other man. Donna gasped and winced as the red head swung and hit solidly, the other man seeming shaken by the blow. Roy was yelling, yelling about things she had no knowledge of but of pain and death she was all too familiar. He'd come here to forget her?

Damn stubborn archer, he was in no shape to be doing anything and yet there he was grabbing his things and heading for the door. Donna followed, the words of that other lost to her ears for the moment. She jogged to catch up to him and had only just reached him when another man stepped in front of Roy. Dark hair, tall and thick as a mountain this one. Hat slung low over his face and an expression that could shatter glass.

"Just what the hell do you think you're doing Harper? Wait..let me guess...you're going to work. Not this time, you have any idea what a liability you are right now? Insurance alone won't let you in the building like that. Whatever you have going on in that thick skull is gonna hafta simmer because until you get the medical ok, you're wings are clipped Red. Orders come from the top, and they aint jerking around this time."

He looked past Roy to the pretty little number in the red long johns then shook his head. Harper was a babe magnet not doubt about it. This one was new but something about her familiar.

"Looks like you got a pretty lil thing there to keep you company so take some time, think of it as a vacation..and don;t let me see you're face in the precinct!"

The larger man jerked his head towards Donna.

"Get him outta here will ya, make sure he gets looked after."

Donna nodded and draped one of Roy's muscular arms over her shoulder to aid him in walking back to the school. Picking him up would be far too hard on his ribs and the last thing he needed was more pain.

"I'm sorry Roy, really I am. I know you are hurt but you need to let someone help you. For once in your life, don't close off and let someone else help shoulder your burdens."

Donna helped him limp along, ignoring his constant complaints and jibes on weakness and needing help. Regardless of how tuff he thought he was he was not invulnerable, even she wasn't. Funny thing was the strangeness of his atire, or lack there of hadn't even caught up to her yet. The strange man she had assumed to be with Roy's work. Later they would talk, they had a lot to talk about.

Medical personal had begun to arrive and were seeing tot he patients. One moved to Roy and began checking him over carefully. Donna stepped aside to let the nurse do her work. But she held Roy's hand, She could bare to let go of him for fear he might not come back again.

"Mr.Harper, you're injuries are too severe to treat here. We're moving you to a proper medical facility."

She injected him with a sedative before he could muster any sort of resistance. The nurse held up the i.d. from his pocket to ward off questions as to how she knew him. She turned to Donna with a practiced and professional smile.

"I'm sorry miss, but until we have him in stable condition on family members will be allowed to be with him. If you care to leave some way to contact you someone will update you as soon as we know anything."

Donna nodded dumbly and stepped back as two large orderlies picked up Roy's gurney and hefted him outside to one of the ambulances waiting there.

"Roy, I'll check on you soon."

She heard the conversation of the others and went to find out who had cause this..what was the HIVE and who was behind it all? Someone was going to pay.

Roy was carried out, and carefully placed into the back of the ambulance, the nurse followed and lowered an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose.

"Just relax Mr. Harper, you're in very capable hands now."

The asian woman smiled at him, it was a very wide smile, almost like something from Alice in Wonderland.

"We're here, Ashton." Raven stepped through the gym doors, the green bird on her shoulder an obvious giveaway to the shapeshifting Beast Boy's location. She was still trying to figure out what the odd feeling was that she had felt when Gar had first contacted the others. It was almost like the strong feeling that overcame her when she summoned her powers... But she had been at rest!

Starfire was very confused now. Her sister had never acted like this before... Komi wanted to help her. She actually... Cared. What was this about being guided home?
Roy's shouts about Angel, however, held in her ears. "Roulette..." Her eyes widened at the memory of her, still hugging her sister's shoulder. "Roy is right. There are many reasons for us to continue this fight. For the memory of our friends, for the revenge owed for Victor... and to regain Robin." She let go of Blackfire, standing on her own feet with a determined look in her eyes. "We need to regain ourselves, and find Ghost!"

"I'm not sure if that's the name he's going by anymore." Raven glanced out the doors of the gym with a frown. "Whatever he is... He's got demonic power." She looked back to the others. "Seems dad liked him."

Ashton nodded. He had gotten that sense himself in the few seconds before the flash that had knocked him out. "The last thing I remember before waking up amongst rubble was hearing what seemed like an argument between you and...well, YOU. After that, I saw Ghost expelled from your body, and then nothing. I woke up in pain, though clearly not as much pain as Roy is in, and looked through the rubble for survivors. I didn't find anyone, dead or alive. I didn't even see Ghost. Fortunately, I found Vic...Unfortunately, it seems he killed whatever generators he had in that cybernetic torso. I can't seem to get ahold of Silas Stone. If you would, could you try to find him?"

Then Starfire straightened up, and spoke with a firm tone that she didn't seem to be used to. It was good to know that even without Robin there, they could count on each other. "I have some ideas, but most of them hinge upon finding the Hive's headquarters. If this Slade had Robin, he won't waste any time in whatever it is he's planning. This could be anything, from torture to mind control. That's where it gets iffy. If Slade gains control of Robin's mind, then he will know all our weaknesses. Of course, Starfire, Blackfire, you two would be a variable. Robin hasn't had enough time to determine your weaknesses. At least, that's my hope. Blackfire, do you have another name? I find myself confusing you two already, and that isn't good for me. Confusion leads to anger, which leads to a disruption of the calm that I need to use my blades effectively."

"Shhhh Roy, don't talk. And don't apologize. I'm here and you're going to be fine."

Donna was there, always concerned. And there to catch him as he fell. he looked into those eyes, Those soft beautiful eyes and wanted to take his hands over her again. To kiss her and be hers, and see no one else. He still couldn't.

Roy was about to open his mouth, when Detective Delaney, a huge guy who was Roy's superior came up to tell him something, and by the looks it was important and not pleasant.

"Looks like you got a pretty lil thing there to keep you company so take some time, think of it as a vacation..and don;t let me see you're face in the precinct!"

The larger man jerked his head towards Donna.

"Get him outta here will ya, make sure he gets looked after."

He was being sidelined. Put on the bench till further notice, and what could he do nothing. whatever he was going to say was shut in. And all he managed was a brusque "Yes Sir"

"I'm sorry Roy, really I am. I know you are hurt but you need to let someone help you. For once in your life, don't close off and let someone else help shoulder your burdens."

"Mr.Harper, you're injuries are too severe to treat here. We're moving you to a proper medical facility."

"I'm sorry miss, but until we have him in stable condition on family members will be allowed to be with him. If you care to leave some way to contact you someone will update you as soon as we know anything."

"Roy, I'll check on you soon."

Roy managed to crawl along with her, sure of the comments on how weak he was hobbling on her. The very touch of her comforting. ambulances arrived, and that was quick. Roy would comment on something till he realized Delaney may well have had one rolling. A pretty asian thing called him from name and Took him onto a gurney away from Donna. Roy tried to cough out a no I'll make it, as he was taken, and did get out a "no" as a needle went into his arm. Roy hated the loss of control in his life, of his own body that drugs brought, such an easy feeling to lose yourself in and Roy couldn't stand that.

Roy reached to Donna as she was placated and Blinked. It was getting a little easier to see. Her costume. her concern, it touched him. the doors shut and the ambulance began to move.

"Where am I? Who are you and how do you know my name? I don't usually forget pretty faces." Roy was sluggish but he could speak, the pain in his ribs clearing a little as the nurse stripped the bandages for fresh ones.

"Listen I don't want to need a hospital that badly can't you do something for me?"

Grant nodded as Donna took off, looking at the scene of carnage. Man...these guys really couldn't catch a break. He started lifting and clearing away the heaviest debris, using what looked sturdy to reinforce the gaping holes in the building. It would suck pretty bad if the whole thing came tumbling in on them all now.

Suddenly there was a shout from below, something about a villain still being there. Most of the Titans had left, heading to the school or the hospital. Guess that left him. "Okay, Grant." "Everyone's beaten up or tending to the people who are beaten up." "Donna and Roy aren't here, no one seems to be in charge at all." "Don't screw up."

There was a heavy thud as Damage landed int he basement, frowning at Ghost. "I'm new to the scene and all, but I know enough to realize you're the bad guy." He moved to stand between Ghost and Mina, blue-white energy flaring around his fists. "There's been enough people hurt and damage done today, pal." "You're outnumbered, all your friends have bailed, you've supremely pissed off everyone who's left, and you're no Metallo." "If you want to do this the hard way, I can't think of anyone I'd rather pound on, but we don't have to." "Give up."

Damage walked slowly forward, his eyes never leaving Ghost's. "One chance." "I'd take it if I were you." "I'm not kidding around." Don't call the bluff. Fall for it, come on.

Letting the tears begin to stop after seeing her sister stand up and finally put something in that simpering voice besides a whine Komi said "Yes little Kori, you are right. I allow my rage to get the best of me again as I did before. I don't think you ever knew why I always seemed so angry."

Looking about there seemed to be a beginning to unity amongst these Titans and it would seem Kori was it's source. "I know not of this Victor or this Angel, but I swear to you we will get your Robin back," Komi slowly almost seeming unwilling to let her sister go. As she did she let her palm trail down Kori's cheek, "I will not let you suffer like I did. I swear you won't have the same kind of rages I have."

“Get out of my way,” Mina said seriously. “He needs to die. He will continue to destroy us unless we destroy him. Step aside, or I will take you out as well!” Mina dove for Ghost again, ready to plow through Damage if he stood in her way.

Damage didn't move aside, instead he put himself directly in Mina's path. He looked at her, "We're supposed to be the good guys." "I don't care what he's done, I won't let you kill him." "You're a Titan, a hero." "Act like it." He turned his eyes back to the black clad villain. "Attack me if you want, but you probably can't hurt me." "All you'll do is tell me you should be locked up too."

He didn't stop advancing toward Ghost either, simply marching forward with an air of unstoppability. "What's it going to be?" "Are you going to give up or do we do this in the way that breaks your jaw?"

“Don’t turn your back on me like that!” Mina spat, then turned into her liquid form, slid across the floor and reshaped behind Ghost. “Ghost is responsible for the deaths of dozens that we know of! It even says in the Bible, an eye for an eye. If he goes to jail, he’ll get the death penalty anyway. I think even he would agree, better to die on your feet then on your knees!”

"The Bible also says, "Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord" which means that only God gets to kill people." Great, now she was behind the bad guy. Meaning he couldn't stop her from killing him. "It also says that a father can beat a child who disrespects him to death with no penalty." "Is that really the standard you want to use?" If she murdered him... "You also don't know whether he'd get the death penalty or not, it's up the court and a jury." "That's his right, and we don't have the right to deny it to him."

"So if you kill him, does that mean you kill the next bad guy too?" "What about the one after that?" Damage kept moving forward, "That makes you a murdered not a hero." "What if you get it wrong?"

"Fancy clothes and powers don't put us above the law." "We can help in cases where it's hard to apply the law, to bring in guys like this, but that's it." Grant pointed at Ghost, "This guy and his pals think that they can kill whoever they want, because they have the power to do it." "If you kill him, you're taking the same viewpoint." "You will prove that he is right." "You're saying that might makes right, nor morals, not heroism."

"You can make all the arguments you want, but in the end, you'll have murdered someone." "You're not a cop or a soldier, no one put you in any position of authority or trusted you with the responsibility to use lethal force." "If you do it, you're just a criminal."

He stopped, a few feet in front of Ghost. "And I'll bring you in like a criminal." "I don't want to have to do that." "Please don't make me."

Ghost leaned around Damage's shoulder to shoot the enraged Mina a glance.

"Well actually the Bible says love thy enemy and to turn the other cheek...but we'll let that one go" Even under the circumstances, he couldn't stop being a smartass.

Do not let them threaten you. You are a vessel of my power, an extension of my terrible will. Show them you will not be intimidated

"I don't know how...I don't know what you're talking about!" Ghost exclaimed at the voice that echoed so loudly in his mind. Trigon's commands and urgings were so loud he feared he would go deaf or mad from simply listening. It was worse then the sound and confusion that had been a daily part of his life for as long as he could remember...this was a direct command, and a dark will that would not be denied. Ghost staggered backwards, clasping his hands over his ears in a vain attempt to silence Trigon.

I am not so illusion to be ignored boy! You are my creature now and I command you to unleash my power against these mortals!

His eyes squeezed shut in pain and torment, Ghost's hand began to rise palm outstretched to face Damage and Mina. He looked with his mind's eye, deep inside his body and soul.

Once more he stood before the gate.

The gate was tall, looking like an ancient pagan alter, covered in markings that burned like red fire, searing the strange glyphs into the mind of who ever looked upon it. And behind those dark gates, he could see the four burning eyes of his tormentor, and his new master. Those gates cracked slightly and Ghost could feel the power that was kept behind them stretch out to touch him. He felt a deep and all consuming rage, and a power that fed on that rage like a fire feeds on a forest.

His hand was consumed in dark flames that lashed out savagely, twisting and forming into a great taloned hand grabbing a hold of Damage. Ghost's hand gesturing upwards, the mystical shadows hoisting the teenage powerhouse into the air and hurling him at Mina as if he weighed nothing.

"I understand now Master" Ghost smiled a wicked smile as he collected the power around him, his eyes beginning to glow red.
