Titans: The Revised Adventures RP

Rupert stood silent for a moment, his eyes slightly wide, his expression pure rabbit in headlights. He was willing his hand to move, or at least his mouth to move. After a moment, some words came, but they were far from an introduction. "I'm er..." he said, his voice slightly hoarse, his throat dry. "That is to say, I think we umm..." he tripped over his words. "we, er... go to the same school, I think?" He realised that he hadn't even said his name, and fell over his words again. "I'm terribly um... I mean, well I haven't really... What er... I'm trying." He stopped, took a deep breath and finished. "I'm Rupert."

He looked down at his shoes and shifted his weight from one foot to the other, then he unconsciously brushed a strand of his hair away from his face with a slightly quivering hand.

The poor guy stammered worse then she did, Donna felt sorry for him and summed him up as no threat. Which put her in the helpful mode she went into around others.

"Great! I just started today, so I havn't met alot of people. The great guy Grant is showing me around though. Are you new too or are you native?"

Donna shook and released his hand, offering him one of the chocolate bars that he'd helped her recover from her bag. Sort of a reward for being helpful.

Starfire smiled, glancing to Robin as he invited her to ride with him. "I would gladly ride with you, Robin..." She followed him, watching as he climbed on, then hopped up behind him. "This is a very small seat to share...," She noted, looking around hesitantly.

((I'm taking over Star for a bit- If Empress wants to come back, I'll gladly pass her back!))

Ghost was suprised at how willingly Slade was offering him this. A ranking position within the HIVE and cadets under his command just like that? It was too good to be true, which meant...it wasn't.

"What's the catch?"

Slade chuckled a bit. “My dear Ghost, there is no catch. You asked, and you shall receive. You are a member of the Hive now, and those who make me proud are rewarded greatly. Those who fail me... Well, by failing or disappointing me, you are asking to leave the Hive. And as I said, to leave, you must pay the Discharge Fee. Dear Trinn, what a nice kid he was. But by showing such cowardice, he was secretly asking to leave, and I respect that. You saw, he paid the Discharge Fee.”

Slade started laughing, “Like I told you, no one ever wants to pay the Discharge Fee. You are mine to command.”

Robin smiled as Starfire climbed on. “It’ll be okay, just make sure to hold on tight. Here--” he handed her his spare helmet, then put his on, both red with an R on the forehead “--put this on.”

TAG: Ashton

Starfire took the helmet, putting it on as he did, then wrapped her arms about him tightly, laying her head against his back. "I... do not wish to fall..," She said softly, though she did enjoy the way it felt to hold him like that. She smiled, closing her eyes as she hugged onto him. "I feel safe now."

Ashton started up his truck, then put the big monster in gear. He headed for his house, which was near the lab. As they drove, he looked in the rearview mirror to check on them. Smiling and seeing that they were buckled up, he passed other cars in the slow lanes.

After several minutes, his house pulled into view. But before they got there, Angel asked to be let out. Once they arrived, he pulled into the driveway. He put the truck in park, then unbuckled his seat belt. He opened the door and stepped out, only to have his little brother right there. "How's it going kiddo?" Tim Drake had a look of pure awe on his face as his brother and the girls got out of the truck. He asked the inevitable question. "You here to see dad?"

Angel had been perfectly content in that back seat- until they passed the cemetary. She begged Ashton to pull over, and with a few odd looks, he did so. She promised him that she'd catch up a little later, then headed off into the cemetary gates.

She hadn't been there in such a long time... Not since she was around 6 years old. Still, she remembered it perfectly. It was the last time she had seen her dad... and the last time she would ever see her mother.

She sat down on her heels in front of the gravestone, brushing away a few weeds that covered the name; Anna DeRoiux. "'Ey mom..," She said softly, smiling as she looked to her hands.
"I know its been awhile. I just moved up here a few weeks ago... It.. it ain't bad here. Uncle says that he understands now why ya chose t' leave Lousiana fer such a big city. its amazin' here... An' I've made friends. They don't treat m' like everyone did back there. I'm followin' right in yer footsteps, ma. I really think I kin make some typ'a difference... They think we kin be some typ'a heoes around here. I... like that. I ain't a freak... I'm a hero."

“Well well, a cute little girly makes her way into my cemetery,” said a man’s voice with a chuckle. He stepped out of the shadows, revealing his tall, muscular frame. He had been sent to replace the cover caretaker that had been attacked by Ghost. Seeing her stand, he ran over to her. “Miss Pretty, this is my lucky night.”

“Big mistake, Bub,” Angel said as she threw her foot up to kick him hard in the chin. He staggered backwards, and Angel leapt, grabbing three cards between her fingers. She knocked him down with another kick to the chest, the cards began to glow red, and she threw them at him, one hitting each shoulder and the third hitting the ground just below his crotch. “Don’ fuck with me, Bub.”

“Aww, but I really wanna!” the man jumped up with a smile, plowing her into a tree. He had super strength. “You can’t defeat me, little bitch.” he said as she fought to get free. “My father’s serum makes me as strong as I wanna be!”

The man grabbed a syringe from his coat pocket and injected it into his arm. Suddenly, his muscles grew much bigger, and he became much stronger. “No one says no to Bane Junior!” He threw the syringe aside and put his hands on her throat. Laughing, he pressed them hard, and smiled as he heard her trying to scream. He started kneeing her in the chest, and after a minute, she lost consciousness. Suddenly, he saw something coming at him, a flash of green...

Donna shook and released his hand, offering him one of the chocolate bars that he'd helped her recover from her bag. Sort of a reward for being helpful.

A shiver ran down Rupert's spine when Donna took his hand to shake it. It was a good shiver. He took the chocolate bar she offered, he didn't even really want a chocolate bar, but she was so pretty and her smile so alluring. He felt the chocolate starting to soften in his warm hands.

He was surprised when she asked him if he was native. Surely his accent had given away that he wasn't local? Then he realised that the amount of words he had spoken to her wouldn't have been enough for her to begin to guess what accent he had.

His cheeks were blazing red as he tried to talk to Donna, and he was really struggling. "I'm new..." he said. "New too, I mean... as well."

He smiled weakly and glanced up at the darkening sky. "Anyway..." He shifted his weight again and looked at his feet. "I should really... I mean... it's late, I should be home by now..."

He started to walk away and stopped, turning back. "Itwasnicetomeetyou," he blurted out before turning and walking away briskly. He stopped again to shout to her. "See you!" Then he continued his walk without looking back again.

'She's so...' he thought, but she had even muddled his thoughts and he couldn't find a word to describe her. 'pretty?... No,' Such an understatement. 'She's just so...' He couldn't think straight as he walked home.

Dick smiled as Starfire hugged onto him and said she felt safe. His entire body shivered, and his heart began to beat faster. A few minutes later, Angel got out at an old cemetery, which Robin found odd, but didn’t ask questions. They continued on to Ashton’s house, and as they pulled up, Dick sighed. There was the annoying little brother, Tim. “Hey Tim, ‘sup?”

Starfire glanced back, a questioning look on her face as she spotted Angel walking through the cemetary walls. Tribute to fallen family... she understood that well. She hugged to him again, giggling as the wind moved about her body. She sat up as they came to a stop, hopping off the bike after him. "Hello Ashton's sibling!," She beamed, then turned to see Raven landing next to her. "Hello to you as well, Raven!" She started to reach to give her a hug-

-Only for Raven to quickly shove a hand out to stop her. "I'm... not the hugging type. Remember earlier?"

"Oh, yes. Sorry." Star gave a sheepish smile, grabbing Robin's arm.

Ashton grinned, turning to look at Raven. Then his little brother started going fanboy on Dick. Ashton sighed, looking at Tim, then ushering him inside. "Tell Dad we need to talk to him about the old newspaper building." He then turned to Dick. "Sorry about him. The whole family knows about us. Tim sort of looks at you like you're the greatest guy in the world." He started for the door. "Come on in, smells like Mom's got some cookies baking. She's the best cook I know."

"Yeah I need to get going too, glad to meet another student though. Maybe we'll have some classes together or something. Thanks again for lending a hand with this."

She watched him turn and walk away, the guy was shy to an almost painful degree, after a few paces she started toward her own home, pausing when her blurted out his next endearing complement.

"Nice to meet you too Rupert, I'll look for you at school Monday."

Well, at least this was a friendly town....yeah..really friendly. Roy was hanging out with two girls, lovely and obviously flirty. He must be dating one of them...or maybe both. She should have said something, congratulations or something, but she'd been too shocked just to see him. Oh well, she was sure to run into him sometime again. At least she was making friends, after all she had Grant to help her with her studies and now Rupert, maybe she could get by here after all.

Dick smiled as Starfire tried to hug Raven, then took his arm. Everytime she touched him, he felt like he was on fire. His skin rippled with goosebumps, and he couldn’t help but blush a little. However, that smile turned into an annoyed frown as Tim started bombarding him with all sorts of questions from “What’s it like to be Robin?” to “Did you like fighting with Batman?” to “How did you defeat the Riddler?” to “Can I be your sidekick someday?”

Dick just kind of stared with his mouth open, Tim asking one question after another, not giving him time to answer. “Thanks man,” he said with a sigh when Ashton finally ushered him on.

Di had hopped into Ashton's van and ridden along with the rest of them as they went to his dad's place. She sat silently, riding along, and wondering what was up with Angel when she got out at the cemetary.
Star had ridden with Dick - big freaking surprise, as it seemed the two had it for each other. That was fine with Di. Really, it was. And Ashton seemed to have a connection with Reikka of some sort... she was sitting up front. At this point, Di hoped with a true heard that the girl would stay good. Maybe Ashton could help to seal that deal for the girl's own sake. And Roy? Well, he seemed to have some sort of thing, albeit an old thing, with the chick by the pizza place. An old flame, he'd called her. Bah, whatever.

Di sighed as she realized she didn't have anyone to pair up with, and she'd SO wanted her senior year to be one for playing around, learning a thing or two about anatomy and chemistry... without having to take the damned high school courses. She was beginning to worry that she'd end up alone again, getting only teased play from the fire girl. Di rolled her eyes to her slight reflection in the window, and began considering changing her schedule at mid-semester to take some tougher courses. Wouldn't hurt, and she'd certainly need SOMETHING to keep her occupied and not having to go home. She'd hoped it would be a boy... or boys, but hey, she could just as easily make the night of it studying at the local library. Right?
She sighed again, and hopped out of the van as they arrived at Ashton's, glad to hear that his mom was cooking. She was starved!

Slade started laughing, “Like I told you, no one ever wants to pay the Discharge Fee. You are mine to command.”

Ghost hated being right about things like that. So that was Slade's "Discharge Fee". Normally it was the intrest that killed you, but in this case it was more literal. Ghost was far from easy to kill and it would take more then a sharp piece of metal, but Ghost didn't doubt Slade's imagination for a second.

"Yours to command." Ghost repeated the words to himself. He had learned a long time ago that everything in life and especially in death had a price, but this was worth it. To be complete. To stop the cold, the emptiness, and the gnawing hunger that never seemed to fade. It was worth anything. And if the Titans stood in his way, then it was their own fault.

And besides, a team of trained villians at his command was hard to ignore. A chance to make that smug little Robin pay for the flash bomb and the exploding belt.

Slipping his hands back into his pockets after a quick adjustment to his glasses, "So when do I get to meet the team?" Adding with the smallest of tones, "Boss"

“That’s your call,” Slade said quietly. “It’s late now, but in the morning, go to the cafeteria. All the cadets will be eating breakfast. Talk with them and assemble a team of however many you think you’ll need, then deliver to me a list of their names. Although, I suggest you choose Bane Junior for sure. I am good friends with his father and he is one of my best students.”

"So, where are we, now?" the boy said in his usual bored tone. The driver of the chartered limo hated that about him. But if it means he's not cracking those lame jokes or pulling dumb pranks on me; by all means, be bored and depressed.

"Vector City."

"So we're here, then."

"Yes."

Garfield Logan gazed out the glazed window as they passed through the city. It seemed like so many other places he'd been of late. Steve had given him carte blanche to spend the hiatus between seasons on the television show however he'd wanted. Then the hiatus had turned into cancellation, and what had been just some down time travelling to avoid thinking about what had happened to Rita, Cliff and the others changed into just time to wander.

No one seems to ever stick around. I wish I knew what I was doing that was so bad.

He settled his stuff in at the house Steve had rented for him. Vector City was fairly good-sized, but not anything that would normally draw Gar for a visit. But there was a scientist at S.T.A.R Labs who had wanted a chance to look at something in his blood, and he told Steve he was cool with playing the lab rat.

Again.

And literally, this time. Gar smiled and looked at his emerald reflection in a mirror. "Let's go for a walk."

*********

Some time later, Gar was getting to know his new town a bit. He flew over what must be the local high school, and wondered if he needed to register for classes since he wasn't seeing a tutor at the moment. One more thing to ask Steve about when I call him.

A sudden triplet of explosions went off somewhere to Gar's right, and he pivoted about to see what was happening. It seemed to be a disturbance in a cemetary. His eagle eyes could make out a cute chick fighting with some bruiser type.

As he came closer, the guy suddenly got a lot bigger and broader. Whoa! Steroid Guy stepped up and caught Girly-Girl by the throat. Gar pulled his wings in tight and dove like an arrow for the pair.

She was being kneed and throttled and seemed to be down. He released her and appeared to be readying for something else. Like that's going to happen.

Gar barrel-rolled as he ended his dive and shot towards Steroid Guy like a missle. About ten feet away, his green form gave a brief ripple and then he dropped to all fours and smacked his rhino horn into the big man's chest. Then unexpectedness of the attack sent him flying backwards over several tombstones.

Gar looked down at the female's body. "Dude, you better hope she's not dead!" the green rhino screamed after Bane Junior. Beast Boy then shifted again and carefully picked up Angel's body in his condor claws and started to head back into the air.

TAG:Bane Junior, possible Hive agents

Ashton led the group inside, chatting with his mom for a bit, before heading to his father's office in the basement. He opened the door, just as his father was getting ready to open it from the other side. He grinned, then his father ushered them in. "What did you kids need? Tim said it was important Titans business." The older man looked at them, before motioning them into seats across from his desk.

"He is very curious, just like me," Star giggled, leaning against Robin's arm as Ashton's brother continued to ask him questions. "So... we are here to find a new building for your... command?," She asked, a bit confused.

Bane Junior was just about to take his prize, when something came at him, a flash of green... A green eagle -- no, a rhino? Before he had time to think, the thing sent him flying over several tombstones. It turned into a bird again, grabbed the girl, and started to fly away. “Get back here, ya green shapeshifting freak!”

Getting to his feet, Bane Junior dove into the air after them, his huge legs propelling him like a missile. He managed to get the freak into a head lock, and started pulling his beak open, trying to rip his head in two.

“Yeah,” Robin said with a smile as he and Star followed the others. “We want to turn the old newspaper building into a command tower for our team.” The team walked into Dr. Drake’s office, the door shut behind them.

Dr. Drake said:
He grinned, then Dr. Drake ushered them in. “What did you kids need? Tim said it was important Titans business.” The older man looked at them, before motioning them into seats across from his desk.

“I’ll let Dick explain,” Ashton said, motioning Robin to speak. He nodded.

“Well,” he said, shifting in his seat, “we were thinking of buying that old newspaper building by the Bay, and turning it into a command tower. Since this morning, we have gained several new members to the team, and frankly, my apartment isn’t big enough to be our base of operations anymore. We were wondering if you could help us design this tower to meet our needs.”

“Hmm..” Dr. Drake thought for a moment. “I could, but I think you might be better off asking my associate, Silas Stone. He’s a master of cybernetics and security hardware and software. I mainly deal with weapons and battle machines, so I could help there. Let me give him a call, maybe we can work together with you and get this tower up and running. Hey -- I think you might know his son, Victor. He’s the captain of your highschool football team.”

Dr. Drake gave Dr. Stone a call, and after a few minutes, they hung up. “Okay, he says he’d be happy to oblige. He’s going to meet us at the tower tomorrow afternoon to do some planning. If you can get old man Spinter to show up too, we can seal the deal then.”

“Okay,” Robin said with a smile. “Thank you, really. I--” suddenly, Tim burst into the room.

“Guys!” he seemed in a slight panic. “Some green dude is here, says some female friend of yours’ is in critical condition at the hospital!”

“Angel!” Robin and Ashton said in unison, and ran upstairs to talk to the green guy.

TAG: Anyone, but especially Beast Boy. Since you’re taking her to the hospital, just have Beast Boy knock Bane off, take her, and then have her write on a napkin to find the Titans at the Drake Manor. You can just include this all in one post, i don’t mind you bunnying Bane and Angel, and Dragon gave me permission to bunny the Drakes.

Star glanced back as the boy came into the room, gasping as the boys cried out. "Oh no! Something has happened to our friend Angel!?"
She jumped out of her chair, flying-literally- after them. "Boys! Please! Wait for me!"

Raven frowned as the others ran from the room. "Don't jump to anything, guys. Its possible he just ran into her or something... Don't start freaking out quite yet." Still, even she felt a bit unsettled at the boy's blurting...

Di had flung her arms out in front of her, pulling herself along faster and elongating her legs to take wider steps. Seeing the Star girl fly, she was comforted a bit as the girl seemed a bit... spacey. At least she had talent. She arrived at the van before the rest, and turned it on as she waited for Ashton and Reikka. And where was Raven? She hadn't seen her. Di had grabbed a few cookies on her way in, and had devoured them quickly, but still her stomache growled at the thought of their new friend injured.

She was antsy to get to the place, find out what was going on exactly... and, now that she thought of it, who the hell was the green dude???

Rupert arrived home later than he'd said he'd be back. He glanced at his watch... Seven-thirty! What with the thief at the drugstore and then meeting Donna, he had lost almost an hour.

'So what? Who's going to be home to give a damn?' he thought to himself, gloomily.

He fumbled in his pocket he found the key, unlatched the side gate and headed to the back of the house, past the trash-cans. Reaching the back door, he slid the key into the lock and turned. The lock snapped open with a click and he slipped inside.

BEEP!

The piercing electronic tone came from the answerphone declaring that there was a message recorded on it. Rupert walked through the kitchen to the hallway and pressed the Play button.

YOU HAVE ONE NEW MESSAGE...

"Rupert," said the wavering voice coming out from the speaker. "This is your mother speaking. Your father and I have an important experiment to finish here, so you'll have to make your own supper tonight. You'll probably be in bed when we get back, so... goodnight."

"Goodnight yourself," said Rupert, tapping the Delete button on the machine.

MESSAGE DELETED... YOU HAVE NO MESSAGES.

He glared at the machine and kicked the wall lightly. "Damn it!" he said crossly. 'Even boarding school was better than this,' the thought was a lie, but he was angry with his parents so he let it slide.

OOC: Oops. Forgot that I wasn't going to be here this weekend, but my character is away from any interaction, so I'll just find a way of bringing him into the main Titans plot on Sunday night maybe, when I'm back.

Ghost agknowledged Slade with a nod and called his power around him, fading from sight with a faint ripple. Bane Junior? As in Bane? As in the man who had nearly snapped the Batman's back like it was a twig? Ghost had never possesed brute strength on such a level, but with his powers combined with Bane Jr.'s...his mind swam in the possibilites.

Moving through the walls, ignoring the security moniters now that he had Slade's blessing, Ghost located a small abandoned room. The space was large, shaped like a massive 3-D octagon and was utterly empty. It was as good a place as any.

Drawing the shard out of his pocket, Ghost turned the dull piece of metal over his hands, studying every detail. Behind the dark glasses, his eyes closed in resolve and he began to unbutton his snow-white jacket. There was no body, no flesh, no blood or muscle beneath his jacket, merely a swirling, shapeless darkness, like a hole of endless darkness. As the garment parted, Ghost held the shard out like a suicide's dagger before plunging it into himself.

A cry echoed through the room, twisting into a mournful wail, like the banshee of old as the darkness of his body swallowed the metal piece greedily. Collapsing to his knees, Ghost felt the entire room plunge into frigid cold, the lights flickering and struggling to stay lit as the intense spiritual energy whipped around him. In sequence, like dominos, the lights flared and burst, sending a rain of sparks down onto the floor. The room went totally black.

The low, raggad breath of Ghost was the only sound in the room. He felt it...for only an instant...he felt his heartbeat. And a name...Lucas. His panting slowly began to take shape as a low, triumphant laugh. His voice rose, echoing off the walls, bouncing back to his ears as it grew and grew, until the entire room became a chorus of his laughter.

It was a whole new world now.

OOC: I'm gonna let some in game time pass since Slade said to go in the morning to recruit the new team. Looking foreword to meetin my new cohorts.

"Shiney. Let's be bad guys" Jayne Cobb.
