Tips for eating well

Best. Snack. Ever. Fed to me by this hottie I knew, damn. I don't know if it's Cuban, but she was.

Jicama, sliced up. Simple enough.

Mojo de ajo:

Garlic - I use 1/2 clove
Lime juice from 1 med lime.
Splash of olive oil

this is the dipping sauce of the gods for the jicama. You can salt it also, but why?

I adore jicama. Hard to get it here and it usually sucks but when I can have the good stuff? *drools*

That dip sounds perfect. Will try next time!

I had spanish ham!!! :D

The best way I can describe the flavor is it tastes like spring. A really refreshing flowery flavor.

LOL, we resisted the temptation to buy a whole leg of it this year, but didn't go totally without it...along with lots of Spanish chocolates and delicacies.:D

Mmm Serrano ham. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy.

I finished a huge pack of Parma ham yesterday that had been got for Xmas. Similarly yummy :)

And I've just opened a pack of smoked salmon for breakfast.

And I have some leftover kedgeree (made it last night) for tonight's dinner. Gonna have it with steamed green beans and brocolli.

I can have kedgeree even though eggs make me fart a lot, cos I'm not seeing anyone until Friday. Working from home has its benefits lol.

I must be going through a fishy phase. Smoked haddock in the kedgeree, smoked salmon, and also yesterday I found myself buying marinated anchovies.

Not normally a very fishy person.

Hmmm...

We have discovered Shepard's pie made with sweet potatoes is very yummy.

I'm also working on the whole freeze ahead willies. The left over turkey was going to go bad if I didn't do something, so I decided to make up a bunch of mini shepard's pie. They are 2-3 servings each, and so far I've been gobbling them up. 30 mins in the toaster oven (which is just long enough for me to shower after work) and I have a very yummy veggie filled meal. And with the sweet potatoes, it's lower in the carb catagory, so I can choose which I need that night.

I've gained a bit of weight being back at work. Anyone have any tips for work lunches? Keep in mind I work at a fast food joint and I don't get a lunch break, I have to grab and go most days which is why I eat so many sandwiches there. So anything that takes more than a minute to cook or prepare.

I've been at Uni every day this week (due to handing in a lot of assignments), and because of that, I've been getting a lot of stuff from the local fast food places. I like to pretend it's not too bad, as it's a local Chinese place; it may be noodles and rice and vegetables, but they're all bloody fried. :p

Okay, I'm in heaven tonight.

Turkey sausage and cheese omellett and biscuts with orange marmalade for dinner.

And I was good and only used a teaspon of marmalade for each biscut where before I might have had more marmalade than biscut. But it was just enough sweet to cure my craving.
