Time Waits for No One: Closer Than Family(Closed for The_Gladiator)

"Mmm...I don't know what you're thinking about, but I plan on curling up in bed until it's absolutely necessary to get up," she said with a laugh, readjusting herself so she could rest back against the headboard.

"Ok, that sounds good to." he said laughing and curling up around her playfully smirking up at her before he rested his head on her breast, waiting to see if she would complain.

She laughed softly as her curled up against her, rolling her eyes teasingly when she saw his smirk. Warmth sspread through her when he rested his head against her chest, the two of them relaxing feeling like it was somethng they did everyday. "This is nice," she murmured softly with a blush, gently running her fingers through his hair.

"Yes it is." he said softly, "Its been so long, since someone has." he murmered meaning someone had held him like this.

Roxanne sighed softly, hating how much Mark was being hurt. While it wasn't physical abuse, she knew that emotional abuse was just as bad. "I will whenever and however long you want," she replied softly, pressing her lips to the top of his head as she held him.

"Anytime," she whispered with a smile, running her fingers through his hair again as he nuzzled his face against her. She knew they'd have to talk about things at some point, but for now she wanted them to just be able to focus on each other.

Mark too knew they had to talk, but right now he couldn't, he just needed comfort now. He closed his eyes trying to shut out the world and just feel her gentle fingers in his hair and face.

Roxy rested her head back against the wall, closing her eyes as she held Mark against her. He'd been there so many times for her before, and now she knew it was her turn to be there for him. She smiled when she realized she was humming softly, blushing a little when she recognized it as one of the songs they'd dance to at the wedding. She continued humming until she heard her doorbell ring, sighing softly when she realized it was the food. "Do you want me to just get your wallet out of your dress pants?" she asked, not knowing if he wanted to get up or not.

"I'm not letting you answer the door in that." he teased indicating her short robe, "It might be a guy, and then I'd have to get jealous." he teased standing up almost looking sad that he had to get up but he headed down the stairs to where he'd abandoned his pants to get the wallet and the door.

She laughed at his comment as she sat up more, though she blushed once he'd left the room and she got out of bed. Even after the night before, she was still finding it a little hard to believe that he liked her as more than his best friend. She made her way to the kitchen after she heard the door close, pulling down glasses from the cabinet and getting juice out of the fridge. "Do you want to eat the food in bed? I normally keep food faraway from it, but I'll make an exception for you," she called out with a soft laugh, knowing she rather curl up in bed with him again than anything else at that moment.

"I'm eating pancakes and cirup, in bed would be amazing, but not real adviseable with what I'm eating." he said coming into the Kitchen setting the food on the small table, "But afterward, I wouldn't mind crawling back into bed with you." he said smiling, but somehow looked a little off as if he had seen something to bother him in just their little moment apart. and the answer presented itself as Mark set his cell phone next to the food. It wasn't hard to assume that he probably had checked his voicemails on the way to the door.

"You have a point," she said with a laugh, pouring them both some juice. "And I'll agree with the crawling back into bed after as well," she said with a grin as she grabbed the glasses, though the grin faded when she turned and saw the look on his face. Her eyes jumped from his face to the phone on the table, shaking her head as she realized what had happened. "How bad were the messages," she asked as she set the glasses down on the table and moved to wrap her arms around his waist, knowing that Lisa wouldn't have stopped at one.

He shrugged, there were the few from last night telling me how lonely she was and how it wasn't fare I just left her like that. Then the threatening to go fuck someone else message. Then the appology for that one." he sighed, "Then the ones this morning, who's bed have you been in, probably that tramp Roxy. If you fucked her, you're in big trouble." he said mimicing his girlfriend's tone, "Followed later by the depressed crying, call me." which I almost did, I hate it when she cries." he said softly, "I don't mean to make her upset. I try to please everyone and fail at it." he said tears filling his eyes.

She was silent as she listened to what the messages had said, anger coming into her eyes when she heard the ones that mentioned her. Roxy was the farthest thing from a tramp, but it wasn't the name calling that angered her. She hated the fact that Lisa was using her to hurt Mark. Her heart broke when she saw Mark's eyes fill with tears, shaking her head as she reached up to hold his face gently. "Hey...you are not a failure," she told him softly, her thumb stroking over his cheek as she looked up at him with sad eyes. "You are the best thing that has ever happened to her, but she's just too ignorant to realize it. If you want...I'll take you back to your place after we eat so you can make up with her. We can act like last night never happened," she barely managed to whispered as the words caught in her throat, desperately trying to hold back tears of her own as she tried to act like what she'd just said didn't hurt her heart at all.

"No, that wouldn't be right." he said, "You've shown me unconditional kindness as you always have. I will face her, and try to leave her. I just can't do it now, I'm scared and I don't have the confidence to right now." he said sinking into the chair heavily. "Thanks for listening and being here for me Roxy." he said his head in his hands. "C'mon before the food gets cold." he said softly trying to chear himself up.

"You can stay here for as long as you need, you know that. And you're also one of the strongest people I know. If it's something you really want to do, you'll have the strength to do it," she murmured as she kissed the top of his head before sitting down in her seat, refering to talking to Lisa because she didn't want him to go through that pain unless he really wanted to. "You're right...let's eat," she said with a smile, opening the bag and getting out their food. "So...I'm not going to be able to see my grandmother without either laughing or blushing like crazy," she said with a chuckle as she tried to lighten the mood, referring to how the elderly woman had been right about the two of them

"Oh? and why's that?" Mark asked curiously raising an eyebrow curiously trying to let his mood be brightened by her words.

"Well...she knew you were staying over and was making comments to me about it. Knowing her, next time I see her she'll joke about the two of us together," she said with a small laugh, taking a sip of her juice. "I'll most likely blush...and since she scares the hell out of me and I'd never be able to lie to her, she'll find the way to get the truth from me."

He laughed a little, "It could be worse." he said, trying to get into her spirited joking but not really able to.

She groaned softly, shaking her head a little as she started to eat. "I don't even want to think of how it could be worse. Knowing Gran, she'd fins a way to make it that," she said with a laugh, tucking hair behind her ear. It hurt her to see the sadness in his eyes, desperately wanting to erase that. She hoped time together would at least help a little.

"I'm sorry I'm not real good company." Mark said softly his eyes glancing up at her before returning his eyes back to his food.

"You're the best company I could ever ask for," Roxy replied, giving him a small smile before eating some more. "No matter the mood, I'm always happier when you're around," she admitted softly, blushing a little.

He smiled, "You're sweet." He said looking up at her, "When'd you get so sweet," he said teasingly, "And sounding so grown up... You were never immature by any means, but you seem older to me now." he said, "Maybe I just realized you're truly a woman not the young girl I used to throw mud pies at?" he mused finally eating the bite that he had been holding suspended halfway to his mouth.

She laughed at his teasing, though she couldn't help but blush a little as she ate. "I hope to God I sound grown up...I was 24 last time I checked," she teased back, grinning before she sipped at her juice. "I'm thinking we were so used to each other, that we never really noticed any change...until last night and this morning, of course," she added, with another blush, a little embarassed by her sudden outwardness.
