Time Waits for No One: Closer Than Family(Closed for The_Gladiator)

She was speechless as she watched him walk off, inwardly cursing herself and the woman that she now had a slight urge to strangle. "Christ...how can anyone be like that?" she mumbled to herself as she took a big sip of her wine. Even though she had thought it before, this only further told her that Lisa didn't deserve someone as great as Mark. "As a matter of fact...neither do I," she told herself softly as she looked over in the direction of the bathrooms, slightly amazed that he would risk his relationship for what now seemed like such a stupid promise.

Mark soon returned ordering another drink, obviously intending on reaching that drunk stage, or else just trying not to care about anything. He leaned on the bar and looked at her, "I shouldn't have said anything, Don't worry about it, ok? I've blown you off enough lately, It was time to make a stand, and if it means no sex fine." he said shrugging as if it didn't bother him at all, but the fact that he'd brought it up at all suggested it did bother him at least on some level.

She sighed, shaking her head as she took another sip of her drink. She knew him better than that, knew that it wasn't fine. "Mark...I told you I want you to be happy. If being happy means that you have to blow me off, then I can deal with that," she told him, while telling herself it was what she needed to say.

"Roxy, hanging with you makes me happy too, don't you ever doubt that. We've been friends forever. Why wouldn't hanging with you make me happy?" he asked. "I mean come on, its just sex, if I get that desperate, I think April was willing." he said trying to crack a joke and lighten the mood.

She couldn't help but laugh, as horrible as she felt about putting him at odds with Lisa. "Now that's pretty desperate," she told him with a grin, sipping at her wine somemore. "I'm sure you could find someone a little more clean, for lack of better and friendly words, if you were desperate," she joked, though she felt herself blushing a little. "Anyways...You know I don't want to come between you and Lisa. You guys have been pretty serious, and I don't want something a silly as this to ruin it for you."

"Maybe it needs ruining." he mumbled, "Yes, ok, I guess I could atleast find someone more clean, who did you have in mind?" he teased sipping his drink.

Roxy caught what he had mumbled, doing her best to keep the surprise off her face Maybe things weren't as good as she had thought. "What? N-No one," she told him quickly when he asked if she had anyone in mind, finishing her wine and ordering another glass. "It was just a suggestion."

He nodded, "Ok, I was only teasing." he said patting her on the back, "So, how's the wine?" he asked sipping his whisky not feeling in the mood for wine but curious. It was a lame conversation topic, but he didn't seem able to come up with a conversation topic tonight.

She smiled. "I'm sure it's not as good as that whiskey, but it's good," she told him with a laugh, taking another sip. "I figure I can have more wine than any other drink because it won't hit me as easily," she added, their saftey getting home quite important to her.

"So maybe its a good thing we don't have the bike, you're scary driving my motorcycle," he said, "That is to say not very good at it." he said sticking out his tongue at her, "There's a bottle of jack in your closet, I brought it to you last week, I forget why, I don't think we even opened it yet."

She laughed, then stuck her tongue back out at him. "I hate driving that thing. It's not my fault I'm bad at it," she told him, sipping at her wine again. "I forgot about that bottle too. That sounds like a pefect way to end the evening."

"Its a good way to end it, there are probably better, but..." he said smirking a little teasing her.

She rolled her eyes at his teasing, leaning back against the bar as she watched people dance. "Mmm...I'm sure there are, but we'll stick with getting drunk," she told him with a laugh, though her mind went to something she wouldn't have minded doing to end the night.

"Suit your self, I actually thought streaking sounded fun." he said deadpan, teasing her again. "Its been a while since I've been arrested." he said.

She nodded, sipping her drink as she looked at him. "You do that. Just don't call me up at 3am to come bail you out," she told him as if she wasn't interested in what he did, though she couldn't keep the smile off her face.

He laughed, "Oh come on a real friend would be right in jail beside me." he said laughing, "Come on, I wanna dance again." he said tugging her hand gently trying to pry her away from the bar.

She laughed, finishing her drink. "Sorry...but there's no way in hell I'm going streaking, just so you can have company," she teased, setting her glass down when he tugged at her hand. "I guess I can deal with another dance," she joked with a smile, giving his hand a squeeze as she walked with him onto the dance floor.

He pulled her closer this time, not even noticing as he started to sing the song, which was a country tune he knew well.

She ignored how her heart jumped when he pulled her closer, telling herself it was just because they were getting tired and a little buzzed. She couldn't help but smile when she heard him singing, it being something she hadn't heard in a while. "You always were a good singer," she murmured with a smile.

He laughed, "Yeah haven't done much of that lately." he said with a small smile, "Thanks, you know I enjoy it when I know the words."

She nodded with a smile, humming along softly as they danced. "You were always singing when we were kids. God...I couldn't get you to shut up half the time," she said teasingly, grinning up at him.

"At least i didn't sing that britny spears crap you did." he retorted, "Ok maybe I did a little but... just to make you happy." he said laughing enjoying picking at her, this felt right.

She rolled her eyes, a smile constantly on her face. "Well...I wasn't the one who dreamed to be in a boy band, now was I?" she asked with a laugh, grateful that things felt like normal again with him.

"That would have just been scary if you had." he said, "You couldn't you were starting to grow those." he said pointing down at her tits, his finger almost hitting them. "And of course i dreamed of being in a boy band, I was a smart child, look who got all the girls? the boy bands...duh." he said with a laugh.

"Hey...watch the hands," she teased, giving his shoulder a tiny shove. "And yeah...I guess they got the girls. But there's also the addictions once they realized they didn't have a career after a few years," she said with a laugh.
