Time to vent

Nah I am a full frontal attack.

I'd say I never attack from behind but the wife might disagree;)

Haha. Tru dat.

Oh yeah. Bring her downtown too. And if she has a personal favorite set of cuffs, sure why not? :D

Seriously, I can't get over how silly dualing reports is. And, while names will likely not be named, it's not too hard to guess "persons of high interest" that have appeared in this thread.

It's a shame we can't just revoke their reporting privledges entirely. I mean, really evil stuff is going to pop up on multiple peoples radar so I doubt if it was a legit report, it wouldnt be followed by another sometime soon.

If only the AH had a "time out" corner.

Strange. No one has PMed me and asked if I'm doing any of this. Guess my PM crowd is more knowledgeable and less gamesterish.

I'm having trouble having much interest in this thread, because, from the OP's own characterization of the stories involved, I'd kick them off an erotica story site too--if I had any responsibility for selection here. But it isn't my call.

My only interest is in how I should find out if one of my stories was being rejected after having been passed into the file--(and I'm not aghast or outraged that some unacceptable content was missed in the first submissions review) and I see no functional difference between "deleted" and "pulled back," even temporarily. If it can't be accessed by readers, it's gone.

If I don't get a direct PM or e-mail, I won't know its gone from my file. I'm not going to review an excess of 650 posted stories periodically to check that point. If a story of my gets deleted for content (and I have stories that include some of these things folks are saying can't be posted here), I'll just let it stay gone. I wrote and submitted the story I wanted to write and it will have already gotten a read by a significant number of people. It's just a story and they keep on coming. It's not the only diamond ring I'll ever own.

The issue now seems to be Laurel having to check reports on each other's stories. If she's finding the reports unwarranted, then she could just ignore them until the two get tired and stop doing it. If she's reviewing the stories and finding some of the reports warranted and is rejecting stories, she's doing the trimming function that the report system was set up to do.

Ultimately, when a story gets deleted this way, it's because, upon site editor review, the story shouldn't be in the file, not because it was reported by a reader.

First you have how many stories? I never would have known because you never mention it:rolleyes:

But the part I quoted?

Okay, everyone read it out loud in your best bad ass voice with some dramatic music behind you.

If you think your lit work is a diamond ring, you really are pathetic.

But congrats on this, because it has to be the most laughably pretentious post I've ever read. But only because you believe it.

I'm not the least bit interested in your juvenile and obsessive attacks on me, LC.

Get fucked.

(And I gotta laugh about you slamming me about mentioning my stories or story file--which I didn't do here--stories aren't diamond rings no matter who writes them; they are renewable resources. You've got to be the champion on bleeding all over the board about your stories--and your small-world life of repeated failures, for that matter--a dysfunctional family, including fantasies of torturing and fucking your sister; jailed for violence; failed marriage; failed business; domineering wife; inability to get out of a small writing world, juvenile, petty obsessing and need to try to bully on Internet boards. I probably could go on, because you bleed all over this forum about it.)

Update

My Valentine's Day entry has been restored to the site and the other two are still pending.
I didn't mean to start a civil war with this thread, but thanks to all who contributed to the thread. I still think there should be another way for an author to find out a story is being taken down. If I hadn't seen the comment from Duna who I have apologized to because he actually wasn't the one who reported it as non-erotic, I wouldn't have known.

The same can be said for your post.

I just scrolled through this entire thread looking at the people who posted in it.

Now of course we don't truly know anyone here for the most part, but just looking at the names here I can't see anyone I would imagine would be do something that petty and stupid.

But what I think this thread is should be a warning that when you post a complaint and go on and on about it, this is what happens.

The easiest way to get trolled here is to publicly continue to whine about the trolls. Bragging about a story score will usually get it reduced in a hurry

And telling people over and over about material that sounds as if it is against site rules is bound to get someone looking at your stuff.

But if 2 authors are doing it to each other that means the one who did it went running "nyah nyah" to the other.

It has become apparent that if anyone has a series issue here your best bet is to PM Laurel and go one on one with her. Bringing the entire forum into this brings out the trolls.

That doesn't always work either,

PM'ing Laurel.
I sent her two questions, one on Friday and one on Saturday, through PM and haven't gotten an answer for either of them yet with it being four days for one and three for the other (added for those mathematically challenged).
I know she has other things to do, but it still feels like she's ignoring me and y questions.
My first grade teacher told me that the only stupid question is the one not asked so I would like an answer to the ones I've asked.

To be honest from your descriptions it sounds as if the original story in question should not have posted here.

Having said that you still have a gripe because there are thousands of "rule breaking" stories here and I know you feel singled out.

The person running the site gives barely a glance to the stories. IT seems it is left to readers and authors to police the site as well as always try to explain things.

Its not fair, but it is what it is.

The site is not well run because it is run by one person who does not want to ask or pay for any help so we get what we get.

Good answer? Not at all.

But its the correct one.

I wanted

to report that all three of my stories have been restored to the site. I still think an author should be notified of a story being taken down in another fashion then by having to check his/her submission page or from reading about it in a comment on another of their stories like I did.

I got the impression that Laurel is aware of the issue and has it on her list of future improvement ideas.

Laurel said:
Eventually, we plan to have a sitewide messaging system and you'll be alerted when your story is approved or rejected there - so I think it wouldn't be difficult to make it so you also receive a message when your story is sent back to you after being on the site.

You gotta read between the lines. When Laurel says they eventually are going to do something with the Web site, she means sometime after the dawn of the twenty-first century . . . maybe.

If she says you can post a poll about instituting it, the idea is doomed.

Unfortunately this is a very accurate statement.

Thanks for letting people know what happened!

You know, I'm really glad that I read this thread. I don't think that I'm in any danger of being reported for anything unless some random person just felt like being malicious, but I did need to back up my work onto my new computer in case something happens to what's on the site. And this thread motivated me to do it. Thanks!
