Time to revisit the issue of funding NPR...

This is nice, but it really doesn't prove anything. What I view as conservative, someone else might view as liberal. There is no way to truly measure how liberal or conservative anyone or anything is unless you are using text book definitions.

Let's be honest, just because someone puts something in a title, doesn't mean that that is what it is. North Korea calls itself a republic, but in truth they are a dictatorship. The USSR called itself socialist, and we referred to it as communist, but in truth it was neither, it, too, was a dictatorship.

People. governments and organizations can label anything they want, but that equals to judging a book by it's cover and not actually comparing it to what it really is.

This is why I ask what people view as conservative and liberal, everyone's opinion is different.

I'm sorry, did you not hear the tape of the NPR reporter coordinating with the network reporters to "get" Romney?

Obama is their candidate and if they cannot print the good news about his economy or foreign policy, then you target, isolate and ridicule his opponent.

"If you don't have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters. If you don't have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from. You make a big election about small things."
Presidential Nominee Barack Hussein Obama, 2008

"Get" Romney? You mean making sure he answered a question rather than picking people he knew wouldn't ask anything awkward?

Great spin, AJ.

The reporters were coordinating their efforts to make sure that Romney couldn't evade tough questions.

I understand, though, as a Glibertarian you reflexively support people who avoid tough questions.

Their methodology was to basically count how many times they cited left wing vs right wing think tanks. Fox News cites Heritage and Cato regularly so they get put on the right. Meh.

According to them, Drudge is liberal. Not sure this is a valid study.

I have yet to find a left leaning think tank. Most think tanks that are considered left wing are actually third way MOR.

Edit to add - I wouldn't even call the Democratic party left leaning. They are now where the Republicans were when Reagan was in office, and the Republicans have moved further to the right of the political scale.

Yes, I heard how they are going to get 'get Romney to answer the questions'. Remember, context is everything when you speak in these terms.

*chuckle*

Romney's not the one who has problems answering questions...

Take, for example, the answer we had recently to the question, "Is Jerusalem the Capitol of Israel."

Now that was a funny fucking exchange...

No, it isn't. Next?

That's not the Administration's policy and it's not the Democratic Reelection Platform plank.

You should not shoot from the hip and try to aim later...

Not one US administration has tried to enact the 1995 Act. Not one, of either stripe.

Just shut the fuck up about this. Candidates have been talking about moving the embassy to Jerusalem for like 30 years. None of them are serious about it including Romney.

Edit - And if Romney is actually serious about doing this in today's Middle Eastern climate then holy fuck he's an inept piece of shit.

Remember, Romney is a mormon, and according to his religion, modern day Jerusalem is somewhere in the north east of the United States.

Someone with two advanced degrees should understand how to do a Google search.

Again, what is left vs right wing is a matter of opinion. Brookings, Cato, Heritage, Rand Corp, Hudson Institute are all right wing.

American Enterprise, Council on Foreign Policy, the former DLC are/were all middle of the road or third way think tanks.

A truly liberal think tank doesn't exist in the US, or if they do, they are so small and have such little sway in policy that no one has heard of them.

Spare us the bullshit. You sound like Oreo.

"The Center for American Progress is an independent nonpartisan educational institute dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action."

Thanks for proving my point.

Jackson County Missouri = Garden of Eden

I didn't know that they had an alternate Jerusalem also.

On another note, I see that the Cap'n is being intellectually dishonest. It must be... Hell pick a day at random and you would be right.

After the hot mic caught them playing politics and the firing of Juan Williams, we know they are only serving the Democratic part of our nation, so why should those of us in their crosshairs be tapped for funding without getting so much as a tote out of them...

The big lesson for me [working at NPR] was the intolerance of so-called liberals. I say intolerance because I grew up as a black Democrat in Brooklyn, N.Y., and always thought it was the Archie Bunker Republicans who practiced intolerance. My experience at NPR revealed to me how rigid liberals can be when their orthodoxy is challenged. I was the devil for simply raising questions, offering a different viewpoint, not shutting my mouth about the excesses of liberalism — a bad guy, a traitor to the cause.
Juan Williams
Government entities are wrong to "play politics"?

I think that memo didn't get to everyone.

Juan Williams violated the terms of his contract. Much like the Chicago School Board violated the terms of the teacher's contract that led to the strike.

Why does the right wing believe that violating contracts is ok?
