Time to Leave Lit

I've been Lit free all week, and I think it is now time to leave. I'm going to ask Laurel to wipe my account now.

I have enjoyed my time here, the friends I've made, and the creative outlet Lit has provided, but it is time to move on. I will miss you all.

Best of luck to you all--may you all write the Great American (Erotic) Novel. :)

Edited to add : don't bother leaving goodbyes here. The account will be gone soon, and I am not even going to let myself come back to check messages any longer. Thanks for the good wishes you would have expressed. :)

WHOAH!
bummer.
sorry to hear this. Ted has been a big support for me.
I do understand circumstances, which require departure. (Though not his specifically.) :(

I did notice the absence, but figured it was a temporary thing.

Bothering :)

You'll be missed, it was a thorough pleasure to have met you through your words.

Enjoy your life to the fullest.

And Ted-E-Bare was so close to the magic number of 10,000 posts...

I understand that people come and people go for a variety of reasons but some of us go on and on and on and on...

until people think we're going on for ever.

*sighs* I know you said not to do it but damn it man that was sudden. :(

So... Chantily, this man walks into a bar...

It boggles my mind every time.

"I've had fun ion Lit but it's time to move on. I'll miss you."

As if this was a... place. It's not. It's a bookmark in a web browser. It's a social interface, a means to contact and keep in touch with people. It doesn't exclude anyone from doing other stuff too.

So unless threr are other reasons than "time to move on", I call shennanigans. Would anyone cut off contact with off-line friends for the reason of "moving on"?

People in a place come with associations. If there's a good reason to cut off contact with the circumstances of a place and its effect on you, like drinking or smoking buddies, or sex buddies...

I refer you to the philosophy of "Girl, you ain't much fun since I quit drinkin'"

I'm echoing Liar.

Why burn that bridge? Of course, there may be a damn good reason... but lacking the knowledge of such reason, I just don't see the sense.

Too bad. You're good people, Ted. Hope you change your mind someday and that it is YOU making this decision, not someone making it for you or forcing it from you.. That would be very sad.

Indeed.

Yeah, but without knowing a reason, all we have to work on is guesses and assumptions. Which are far more likely to reflect our own circumstances then they are his.

We're all slightly narcissistic if we're healthy...

... And I'm both stubborn about giving up friends and a bad example for addiction. So I'm not a good reference point. I hope all is well with Ted. But the need to take irreversible actions bothers/worries me.

At the end, it's all up to him.

I understand. It's just my experience that if someone says it's time to go, it's time to go. Big hugs, say goodbye, welcome them when or if they return.

I respect someone's grasp over their own life to know when their time would be spent better elsewhere. I don't need to know, it's likely none of my business. Might be some oohs and aaahs in there, it might be the best story ever told, but again, none of my business.

I come and go from the site for months at a time, I just stop posting and then I start again when I feel like it. I don't have to decide one way or the other if or when I come back. But I am not tangled up in anything here, either, other than enjoying the company of folks. I'm also not tangled up in anything real that gives me reason to stay away.

If someone needs to draw a line in the sand that separates "THEN" from "NOW" and they want to make a physical change to their world so they're not tempted to cross it, I respect that too.

If you get this, best of luck Ted.

To offer up an alternative view, Lit can be a bit of a vice sometimes. I also have numerous friends here, and enjoy engaging in a bit of discourse, but sometimes find that the opportunity cost of Lit can be quite high. That there are things I should be doing. Especially when I am doing more lurking than posting. Especially when I find that too many of the threads offer too little value for the investment of my time.

Lit can also be a little addictive. So as with other addictions, sometimes the best way to deal with an addiction is to go cold turkey.

I would probably have to take very drastic steps to keep myself away from here. But to have one's record expunged is debilitating to the forum and its history :(

"The_Fool" is a misnomer. (made obvious time and again)

See ya Ted, take care. Sad to see you go so permanently, but know you'll be welcomed back with opened arms if you ever decide to return :rose:
