The refs aren't public employees. If the league can overpay the players, they can do the same with the officials.

Refs are being offered the same fucking thing and they aren't fighting over pay...
Fuck them. It takes two to tango. What needs to happen is the players, coaches and owners need to start being fined and suspended; see my last post in kbate's thread.

FT pay for life is a throwaway. They know they'll never get it. Hopefully they'll settle before someone gets hurt. The refs have no control over the games.

It's common sense that Green Bay had the ball as the ball was in Jennings hands clinched to his body. I guess that's not enough for the "refs".

Our school fought anywhere, anyplace, anytime and any rules.
Most days we only learned the rules once we got there. As an umpire at at early age, I learned to be god; there is a rule book, but whatever you agree to in ground rules over-rides the rule book and if the NFL teams hate the refs so fucking much, then they should just forfeit the game. Seems to me, there was plenty of bitching with the real refs, but now the bullies figure they have targets who have to take it because no one will defend them so you get this egregious, horrible display of poor sportsmanship being eaten up by a new group of youth football enthusiasts...

Simply having a referee on the field means they're taking it too seriously.
It's a game, folks. Play by the rules, or don't play at all. You don't see referees at chess tournaments, watching for cheating players.
