Tick tock - Tik Tok

Listening to the arguments - I'm siding with TikTok on this so far. The burden to have to recreate an algorithm, which fundamentally changes the application, is quite high. And the accusation that ByteDance is both guiding content and/or collecting user data seems to be unsubstantiated.

More arguments to come...still listening to the TikTok lawyer questioning.

In a secondary note, apparently some people are signing up for Rednote, the actual Chinese app by Byte dance.

Fucking idiots

Speaking of RedNote, it seems there are already some unexpected side effects......

This could potentially be a win-win, because my personal experience is, American guys LOVE Chinese girls long time.

Now is time time to benefit China with a flood of woke American women, allowing us Chinese girls all the hunky white guys. LOL

Bro now influencer types are feeling Southern border states to say up their ring lights in Mexico.

Stop the invasion!

🤣🤬😱

The ban is total bullshit. A bunch of Congress people bought a lot of meta stock to make money.

I've seen zero evidence it's a threat.

Don’t worry, President Musk (and DonOld) just announced that they will pause (block) the ban.

I guess China isn’t a threat anymore…

In related news:

President Musk (and DonOld) have also announced that they are going to simply continue President Biden’s record deportation of “bad hombres” effort (sans the funding that President Biden had secured in the bipartisan immigration reform and border security bill - a bill DonOld sabotaged).

I guess "50 MILLION" "good hombre" undocumented immigrants sponging off hard working Americans isn’t an issue anymore…

In other related news:

President Musk (and DonOld) have announced that grocery prices and housing costs, etc, will NOT be going down.

I guess high prices aren’t a problem anymore…

😑

Just a little COMMON SENSE REGULATION!!!

Since when was that ever a problem ??

If that was true, the same would be applied to Twitter and Meta, doofus.

No no no....that's not a requirement when Democrats are doing a little COMMON SENSE regulation. The only standard they have is that they want it and have enough of a majority to do it.

So that's all MAGA needs... fair is fair. :D (y) (y)

Neither are owned by China
This is true, and the Supreme Court has held that social media owned and operated by entities subject to free speech moderation by Congress and/or the billionaire oligarchs is good, and entities beyond the reach of content moderation by Israel's AICPAC financial control (i.e. China) is "a security threat".

I guess it IS a "security threat" if you squint your eyes very tightly, but the threat is not to the United States, but Israel's worldwide public affairs initiative.

TikTok was the media platform of choice for Palestinians, and represented a "clear 'n present danger" toward Israel when they were not subject to pressure by folks receiving AIPAC payoffs.

Tiktok refused to parrot to the AIPAC line of "Israel is fighting for survival, so they CANNOT be engaged in genocide/extermination/ethnic cleansing" as virtually every other social media platform in the United States did.

Instead we saw
  • Women, children and especially foreign journalists being used for target practice by the IDF
  • Israeli soldiers using knives to carve the Star of David into the backs of captured Palestinian males. (those videos were taken down as "too gory").
  • Israeli troops gleefully repurposing captured adhan (the state of the art loudspeakers in Islamic mosques used to call the faithful to prayer services) as makeshift discos playing all the Israeli pop hits.
  • Captured male Palestinians randomly selected for "testicle torture" and/or "riot baton sodomy" each day. (Israel pushed back hard on this one...."it's NOT the IDF, it's the Israeli Bureau of Prisons doing this!")

Senator Mitt Romney warned us of this back in May.

It's coming back.

  • TikTok said it would be restoring service to U.S. users after blocking it the evening before.
  • TikTok became unavailable last night, just hours before a law banning the platform was expected to go into effect. Users who tried to access the app were greeted with a pop-up message on their screens saying “a law banning TikTok has been enacted.”
  • President-elect Donald Trump clarified his stance on TikTok, writing on Truth Social today that he’d like to bring the app back online in the U.S. as soon as possible, even if there’s no deal yet for a U.S.-based company to buy the app.
  • Though access to the app has been restored for many U.S. users, those who don’t have the app on their devices still appear unable to download it through the Apple and Android app stores.
  • President Joe Biden signed a law in April that required TikTok to divest from its Chinese ownership and sell to a U.S. company or face a shutdown. His administration said it’s leaving enforcement of the ban in the hands of the incoming Trump administration.
