Cool, I like it - wierd, cause I was messing around with satyr's and demons the other day too, then I logged on and see Phalo's demon sketch, now Throbbs - great minds think alike, eh?

I do have a couple of demon stories I'm gonna do eventually, I like that Minotaur thing, you should post it in story ideas, maybe somebody there will be inspired.

I didn't scan any of my monster sketches, but I'll post one I did way back in highschool in my thread - not a demon, but a monster of sorts.

"Demons" aren't my bag. I tend to stray towards "mythical beings". This might seem like semantics, but I prefer the historical/literary origins of these.

One might say that mythical beings are my demons. maybe.
One could also postulate that the mythical beings are more demonic in their insidious subtleties. Regardless, they are mine. My fantasies and my preference. In my mind there is always consent and no real violence even in that last image. My explorations in "darker" material is never meant to be hurtful.... though there may be some instances of "forcefulness".

True, it can be a fine line between being "swept off ones feet" ala bodice rippers, and rape. You really need some tension in a story, and you've got some here - it can add a degree of complexity to a story to have some conflict, mixed feelings, etc., as opposed to straight tab A into Slot B stuff.

Straight up gonzo type porn doesn't really work that well in sequential art, in that respect it's more like literature, porn on film gets boring fast if it isn't done well, and if you don't keep up the readers interest, draw them into the story, they're just going to flip through and forget all about it 5 minutes later.

I had considered some stories about demons, magical stuff, but the other day I was mainly messing around with satyrs, had an idea for a classical piece. These are all symbols of the subconscious, and so work well in a symbolic medium.

Kinda why I like sequential art, you can do things with primary symbols, surrealism, etc., that would be difficult or impossible to pull off in either literature or film.

I like to play with scale and sometimes transparency...showing what cannot be seen. I understand that often an image can be all the more erotic by NOT showing... but I do like to see. I am a man prone to visuals and at the voyeur end of that spectrum. It is also amusing that one can contort bodies to do the impossible (or awkward).

Have you checked out Perfect Flex? I find it's quite the opposite - there are poses I can't use because they don't look possible for a human to assume.

and yet, there are humans assuming those positions. go figure.
I have seen Perfect Flex, though I did not recognize the name.

I spent years (40?) drawing from life. More recently I have been drawing from my imagination and memory... the distortions are my own. On occasion I am sure they do look awkward or even impossible. Often they ARE. That does not matter as much to me anymore, because I know that I can draw so that "it looks like a photograph, man!". If that is the goal, I might as well just take a photo.

Missed this post - I've never really gotten the opportunity to draw from life, and comix are all about improvisation of the human figure - I literally can't draw from life or straight from reference, all my figures are improvised - I reference bits and pieces, how certain structures appear at certain angles or under certain conditions, flexation, relaxation, etc., but you simply can't draw comics from live models, it would be too time consuming, require too many resources.

I'm getting better at achieving certain liknesses consistently, but again, it comes from memorizing morphologicaland/or facial characteristics and expressions, when I try to draw straight from a photo, it invariably comes out distorted, it's easier for me to study it, maybe do a couple of sketches, then just draw it from memory.

Is it sad that I've come to comics late in life (age 37)? LOL...Actually, I started reading Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman last year much later then the rest of the world.

Love your work BTW. The satyr drawings touch on a fantasy I've had since I was at least in my early 20s. Being the aspiring writer your work has inspired me to go write this fantasy down. Thank you.
