Throb

Wow. I tried to stay away from Lit for a while but that car illustration is fabulous. You really are very talented. I love the look on the moon's face. That's so fun. :)

To me... this IS life.
*sigh* I know - but until I can support myself with it like your fine self..

*Sigh* Photobucket is taking it's time - found three. One of my earliest, a middle one, and the last one - still in approximately the same position and state of completion as in the photo.

The whale pic was done deep in my "blue" period (as in very, very depressed - *Grin*)

I wanted soo bad to harpoon her, but my Mom stopped me. Grrrr.

Never let a normie edit your work before it's done. The waves are crap but I like the whale. I gave it (was forced to, sortakinda) to one of my brothers (now estranged) as a kind of peace offering (the only thing I did that he liked) - if it hasn't been sold or destroyed, it's languishing in storage somewhere.

HEY look at you!
You no slouch...
NOW get back at it!!

(I like the whale bestest...living beings...and there is action!)

Though it's not a Sperm whale ;)
One of these genetically pased down things - I have no training.

Huge regret that my self-esteem was so bad in highschool that I wouldn't take the art courses because I thought I couldn't possibly be as good as some of the other students I saw. I have no formal training at all, when I was in my very early twenties (and quite out of my mind), my mom brought out some of my Grnadma's boxes (she would open a 3 or 4 grand bank accout with every show she did - probate was an incredible mess!) and practically ordered me to go at it.

So I did.

I once had about 20 of them hanging in a restaurant, but the place went under and they took all of them.

Beautiful work babygrrl. I like the whale best too. Sometimes our best work is when we are depressed.

I'm very slowly coming out of the creative block with art. I used to be much more adventurous. I'm starting with collage though. It seems to be opening me up to other ideas. Sounds funny but maybe it's sort of like brainstorming with bits of paper and glue. Whatever works eh?

Like Throbby says, keep up the work. You are no slouch.

See?
They wanted them!
And there are more where those came from!

Training schmaining... it's about DOING... and seeing... and looking ... and feeling... and a few tricks.
Says the man who commutes in his PJ's...
Bastard.

You think I should leave these up for MJ?

Art is..isn't it?

It doesn't really matter what its form, or media, collage is a pretty "outside the box" way of doing it. Good for you, Ivy.

I've been satisfying the creative drive with the writing. Painting..

You know - seascapes are nice and all, but now I really want to paint some of what I've written. But a market for 5 foot erotic oil paintings??

Thank you both.

Throbby is right. You should start your own thread.

I agree art should just be. I was at the local library and they were giving away some books. One was on collage and it has been so inspiring as to the possibilities of the art form. I got so excited like I used to about art. :nana:

You never know about markets. You may find your niche. That sounds fascinating.

Oh, I meant to add that starting your own thread would of course mean that we would reserve the right to come in and bother you. ;)

I can't imagine my husband's opinion of thatwould be..

"Why can't you paint oceans - you're good at that? Why do you have to be such a pervert?"

Ferget the "market"... You HAVE a job. This is your passion.

"ART"!? Don't get me started. NOT "ART"... Therapy..maybe... illustration much better.
There was a pretty good argument on the radio the other day - "art" vs. "illustration" and were the high art critics out of touch - why is popular art scorned on, what is real art..... I wished I could have listened to it all - it was fascinating.
