Thousands in Los Angeles protest gay-marriage ban - quoted from yahoo.news

Ready to push it to the Supreams?

The Calif. Supream Court found it legal, probably under the "equal protection" clause of the Constitution.

Perhaps when Obama appoints another "Liberal" to the Federal Court, you can make a case in Washington?

It was under that clause in the California constitution. Now the first question will be whether Prop 8 was a legal "amendment" or an "alteration". If the Court finds for the latter, 8 is dead because it wasn't passed by the legislature first. And you can bet that the gay members of that body will use every procedural twist that they can come up with to make sure that it never does. I got me claws crossed!

I hold a faint hope in that direction;

We need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges.

Unfortunately for that viewpoint, the most 'liberal' Supremes are also the oldest. The Bush appointees are much younger and will be around for a long time. This will be better solved at the state level, if at all possible.

It's hard to be objective when the state has just told you that your legally wedded wife is no longer your legally wedded wife.

"Open minded"

I do not think that word means what you think it means. It certainly doesn't mean the doormat that lets anyone express bigotry without calling them on their bullshit.

It IS time for everyone to ACCEPT gay marriages. You don't have to like them. You don't want to marry gay? Fine, then don't. I won't try to prevent you from marrying straight. Free will? Your free will stops at the end of my fucking foot. You don't get to impose YOUR free will on me. Neither does the Mormon church.

You know what? fuckoff into the wild blue. How dare you condemn the actions of desperation and anger when it isn't your fight, your life, and your family.

How about the documented cases of vandalism and violence against gays through the years? How about the documented cases of violence and vandalism propagated by the Pro-8 protesters? I know someone living across the street from the church was throwing eggs at the protesters, early in the morning.

First off, no one is telling you your marriage is void. Prop 8 is NOT retroactive.

Next, you put you foot in it bitchie girl. I am in a bi, poly relationship so don't you fucking DARE give me your attuitude. I can hand the 'tude right back to your angry dyke ass, got it?

As to free will, I have to back track and say you're right. But here's the real deal. This was for a legality, so YOUR free will got voted down by the majority. Don't like it? Move to Massachusetts.

I entered into this with no hard or harsh words. You in your blind rage lashed out at me. I admit, I succumbed and lowered myself down to your grade school level. Here on Lit, I can honestly say your attitude or opinion doesn't affect me. So rant and rave all you want, I'll just sit here and point and giggle.

Last thing on the subject, last time I checked, the Mob rules and the majority won.

At least McCain won't be choosing rplacements for these liberal older judges.

Or Pallin.

What I don't understand about the whole issue is where the adverse affect to society OR the adverse affects to those who oppose same-sex marriage are. The main complaint, from what I understand, is that marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman and allowing gay couples to marry will hurt, bastardize, destroy marriage.

Someone tell me how my marriage, my life, my finances, or even my kids if I had them, are negatively affected enough by same-sex marriage to warrant creating laws specifically to prohibit them. Anyone? No? Okay, well then if you can't tell me how I'm personally affected, tell me how you are affected to the point where such laws are justified. Somebody? Anybody?

In regards to how it would affect you, it's not a large thing, but it is a telling one. It takes a parent's right to decide when and how their children learn about same sex relations. It meant that the schools would be able to teach whatever they wanted to your children and that you had no right to complain or remove your children from classes. It took a parent's rights on their child's education away from them.

Go ahead and scream at me some more now Stella, you know you want to.

Thanks for backtracking and saying you were wrong about who's free will is at risk here.

Harsh words? No? "Despicable"? "Back to the caves"? Once again, I say; how dare you judge angry, anxious, desperate, people?

I don't like it, and I'm not moving to Massachusetts, I am staying here and fighting. That's what real patriots do.

I have been fighting for fifty two years; I am the woman YOU can thank for your chance to have a poly relationship because I was there first in 1978 when we were really considered freaks. When our children were at risk if people knew that three adults slept in the same bed.

Now, take your sanctimony and your infantile pointing and giggling, and move out of the way.

That is just plain not true. Check your facts before making these kinds of statements.

I noticed proponents for prop 8 were using this argument.

Why will teachers have to teach kids about same sex relations? What do teachers teach about marital relations at all?

Won't the kids learn about that stuff the same way they learn all the other aspects of their society-- through television?

It doesn't say much for the cumulative gene pool

when they make decisions based on misinformation and distraction....The good news is that Obama will be proposing candidates to the Supreme Court and not Palin. The bad news is that the same twits who elected him will forget how bad the Bush-Cheney regime/junta fucked things up and will likely turn on him after he gets things turned around - look what happened to Clinton......
Bill turned things around after 12 years of Reagan-Bush, what was his reward? The republicatards got a mandate, the Contract on America that they totally shredded and revised in the name of partisan politics......
'those who forget the past condemn themselves to repeat it......'

Err, I was under the impression it was covered under Sex Education, you know, the thing parents have the RIGHT to remove their children from if it conflicts with their religious/moral standing?

Piss on you. We dont care. You lost.

I'm not a gay man, JBJ, but I have many friends who are not only gay but also have enjoyed a long time relationship with their partners. To deny them the benefits that a heterosexual has is ludicrous.

If I were gay, I'd be out there fighting and marching with everyone else. I should be regardless. Still, it's just wrong to deny gay men and lesbian women the rights under our constitution to equality. In the eyes of God we are all equal. Just because you're gay or lesbian doesn't necessarily mean you are Godless.

If you love someone, it doesn't matter who they are, even if they are of the same sex. The fact that you have found one another is the important thing. As far as I'm concerned gay men and lesbian woman should have the right to marry and then have the right to health care, death benefits, social security benefits, and at the very least, to visit their loved one and to make their medical decisions on their behalf when they are infirmed and/or hospitalized.

For you to goad JBJ and gloat is beyond ignorance. I'm ashamed of you. Yet, I think I know why you act this way.

You're a woman, aren't you? Moreover, you're a lesbian woman, aren't you? You're pissed over gay marriages because your lesbian lover left you for (gulp) a man. You were at Six Flags and she met a man at one of the concession stands. She struck up a conversation and the next thing you know, you caught her in one of the tents giving the guy a blowjob. They've been together ever since.

Listen, JBJ, what's your first name? Julie? Listen, Julie, there are a lot of lesbians in the sea. You'll meet someone else. Matter of fact, if you start by acting nicer, you may meet someone here. There are lots of lesbians here. I dare say that there are a disproportionate amount of lesbians here than other places for some reason. I mean, this isn't lesbianrotica, but it does seem so sometimes.

Luckily I'm a lesbian, too. Hey, just because I'm a guy doesn't mean that I can't be a lesbian. I love women and love having sex with women, so in my book, that makes me a lesbian. Okay, yeah, sure, I have a penis, but you lesbians wear strap-ons so what's the difference.

So, listen, Julie, come out of the closet, stop playing these silly annoying games, and come out of the closet.

Don't insult lesbians in this manner.

JBJ (who is on ignore so I don't have the slightest bit of concern over what he's been posting) is just an angry little man.

His only enjoyment in life seems to be trying to bother as many people as possible.

If you embrace democracy you must embrace the voter's decision.

James Madison said it plainly; THE TIME FOR DEMONSTRATING AND PERSUASION IS BEFORE THE VOTE. AFTERWARDS YOURE OBLIGATED TO JOIN THE TEAM IF YOU RESPECT DEMOCRACY.

If you like lesbians I'll turn you on to Elaine next door. She's about 4 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and wears Rainbow Frocks (even her dog has a rainbow bandana.

Hey, I live in Massachusetts the home of Provincetown and Northampton, huge gay and lesbian centers.

Now, as far as Democracy goes, the typical voter, as well as most people are idiots. The most intelligent, discerning, and creative people that I've ever met are gay and lesbian.

I'll pass on meeting Elaine. I'm sure she's a nice woman, but I like them a bit taller and a bit narrower in the waist.

FREDDIE

Actually Elaine isnt very nice. She slashes tires at night with a knife. If she wants to go for a swim she slashes the pool screen and goes for a dip. I climbed on her ass a while back for spraying carpet cleaner all over her dog's face. She knows I pray to Jesus every night for an excuse to give her the business. I'm patient.

She scares the shit out of the neighbors, but she arouses the Hannibal Lecter in me.

Wyldfire, might a little check with the classroom be in order before you start talking about what goes on there? Elementary schools do not teach anything about marriage. Fifth grade girls get taught about menstruation. In the sixth we teach the biology of maturation and reproduction. Please observe the word "biology". That's all. The California State Superintendent of Schools went on the air an publicly refuted that whole ignorant damned argument. What part of "lie" do you not understand?

God, but I get sick of people who haven't seen a live child in twenty years telling me my business!

Love is a many splendored thing and if you are lucky enough to find it, you had better hold on to it. It is the most sought after and precious experience the world knows and we all yearn for it from our first moments of life. We are made to love one another, no matter what sexual orientation you choose. A one-size-fits-all design by the prime creator that accomplishes the desired goal. Sexual compatability.

You really think McCain chose Palin as a running mate? republicans don't work that way, same with justices and judges. I wonder whose brilliant idea it was to pick her?
