Thoughts on avatars

Willy's Av

i enjoy looking at it. i also think it seems a little Rockwellish and quite harmless.
how many males, in their young lives, has NOT looked up someones dress at one time or another?
child porn? i think not!!

Sexy-Girl...that av of Miles is an actual pic of an old silent film movie star.( i cant remember his name off hand.) perhaps Miles can enlighten us as to the name of the mystery person?

Ben Turpin.

He aslo did quite a few Laurel & Hardy shorts (talkies).

Ya know Muff?

Even though I find nothing offensive regarding your Avatar - many would.

Yeah I'm offended that her avatar is always from the back....how cum we never get a front shot???

You know I find that Siren's AV really offensive

:p

I'm not offended by the avatar, but it is disturbing. The woman in the pic is doing nothing to discourage the child, she's just standing there and leaning back. While on the child's side of the whole deal it's a very innocent and natural thing to do, on the adult side of it the question is why is she letting him? I don't think it's pornography or necessarily morally wrong. I do think, however, that it isn't appropriate for the venue that it is being used in.

I'm not smacking at ww for his choice in av, or even suggesting he change it. I am saying that it disturbs me and that I don't think it is appropriate. Obviously others think it is appropriate, my question was answered.

This is the reason I don't normally surf lit with the avs on.

And Sparky, I'm sure my av offends people, particularly those in favor of gun control. If you want to question my av's appropriateness, then by all means do so. Offensiveness was never the issue.

If I'm not mistaken, WW's Avatar is a copy of an old Saturday Evening Post cover -- I'm not sure if it was by N. Rockwell or not.

I don't think it's inappropriate as an avatar, although if it were posted as a picture on a thread, the context might change depending on the thread it was posted to.

To me, it is simply an attempt to portray WW as being a Benny Hill style naughty boy and it certainly fits with the image of his personality I get from his posts. That is the purpose of an avatar after all -- to reinforce a user's persona in some way.
