this makes me extremely happy.

I hadn't heard of him, but I'm doing lots of Googling now. His work sounds amazing. And I love folk music, if that helps at all.

the man was a saint. sadly, there's no lead belly on the site yet and very little woody guthrie. makes me sad, but february only just started and the article says they won't be done until the end of the month so i guess i'll just have to be patient.

Forgive me for being obtuse...what I'm getting from the articles is that he was a kind of folk historian. He traveled, often to remote locations, recording and interviewing the artists. Am I on the right track so far?

Okay, I just found a discography at culturalequity.org. Yowzer! Really, really impressive.

Thanks for the link!

I love all that junk. Listening to Romanian accordion music from the site right now. Too bad there isn't any Leadbelly up yet.

I'm going through the Appalachian recordings, starting with the stuff done in Galax, VA. This stuff is incredible. I'm volunteering at fiddlers' convention this spring, and I'm all excited.

it is an indisputable fact that accordions are the shit.

they're alright, but the accordion is their better and they all know it whether they're willing to admit it or not.

Leadbelly was the world's first rock star. Before rock was even invented.
