This just in from John Kerry:

Not to butt in, but I just saw an interview with Arnie's campaign director. He just said that they didn't want Bush anywhere near California. Kinda strange for a Republican gov to a Rep prez, don't you think?
:D
Bush ran for president as a conservative but he abandoned many of those principles as soon as he was in office. Aunold is a more traditional conservative. The majority of Republicans want the party to return to those values.

And GWB appears to be persona non grata with a lot of Republican contenders at the moment. He's seen as a liability.

Yes and no.

For public appearances, I would say yes in some cases.

For fundraising, there is no one they want more than Bush.

It was fun to hear Al Gore talk about this, here in Portland, one of the most dedicatedly green cities in the country with a spectacular economy. You could almost hear him thinking "retards" when he said "skeptics" with a particular emphasis.

Yeah, GWB is sort of hot for a lot of Reps right now. I note that he's not bothering to come here to try to help the struggling gubernatorial candidate unseat the very popular and successful incumbent Democrat.

Gore has been taken on as a climate change consultant by the British govt. Or did I tell you that already?

That is probably a fair description of Arnie.

I agree and disagree with both Arnie and Bush, just depends on the issue in question.
Sure, me too. I don't completely agree with anybody. I can't say I know much more than what I said about Arnie; my wife works on gw issues for a local org, and Cali is a commonly-cited role model for the rest of the country. Arnie is a strong leader in emissions standards and such. No reason not to do it, "Oh, My Ducats!" types to the contrary. Cali isn't going bankrupt any time soon, and they understand that gw will take the water out of their farms and wineries, and LA's air is toxic.

Arnold's Chief of Staff is a well known Democrat.
Smart choice for the Rep governor of a state like Cali. He's a pretty savvy guy, is the Governator.

You mentioned, yesterday. Great choice; he's politically charismatic, and his command of the science is truly remarkable. He pulls in the most amazing sources...during his talk, one of the facts he cited was research done by the CIA about the thickness of the polar ice caps (they started looking at it during the cold war, because they needed to know whether the nuke subs could surface in case of a launch order). He went up there in a sub and talked them into giving him the data. Guess what? Another data set that correlates perfectly eith the climate science. I want one of the Ducats Crowd to tell me that the CIA is a socialist shill.

True that. For some reason, people are willing to pay hundreds of thousands just to eat dinner in the same room with him. Same for people like Clinton...I've never been able to fathom who has that kind of money to throw away on a dinner party. People that rich are just from a different planet than me.

no. he's saying bush is a jackass, and i agree. he keeps sending everyone to iraq to die. he just said it wrong, and rather than taking it as how it's meant, everyone's throwing a bitch fit.

Translation: rather than reading his mind, they took it how he said it.

Damn it, I hate it when words mean things.

Pick up a history book and find a perfect war.

Make it a brief one, drenched in moral rectitude.

A lovely war, brief, with zero casualties.

The name of that war is?

It did meet one of his requirements. It was short.
Officially the shortest war ever. Heard about it on the radio the other day.

The war of words......... nobody killed, but many wounded

What's the name for this sort of question again?

Like, find a gun that uses no projectiles or propellants of any kind.

Sort of a reverse tautology, a truism phrased as a question.

Pick a planet that isn't a big chunk of stuff orbiting a star.

*Chuckle*

Noone seems to know what the joke was....... even Hillary took him at his words.

Actually, Hillary's comment may have ended Kerry's chances in '08 (if he even had a chance)

Maybe the Cold War, except for casualties and brevity?
The Cod War between Britain and Iceland in the seventies.

Play that record backwards.

The devil is in the details.

They're twins. Let's not be too picky.

So the cod casualties don't count because they are only fish, right?
LS didn't specify if he meant casualties only as humans or not. We'll have to wait for him to define the terms of his question.
