A middle aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near death experience. Seeing God, she asked Him if this was "it."
God said, "No. I am sending you back. You have another 40 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."
Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face liposuction, chest augmentation, a tummy tuck, etc. She even had her hairdresser come to the hospital to change her hair color before she was released from the hospital. She figured that, since she had such a long life ahead of her, she had better make the most of it.
She left the hospital after all the operations, and while crossing the street she was hit by an ambulance and was immediately killed.
Arriving in front of God, the woman demanded, "I thought you said I had another forty years left to live. What happened?"
God replied, "Oh sorry, I didn't recognize you!"

A big kiss to whichever Lit member is the first to tell us why plastic surgery is called plastic !

Loss of genitalia for a wrong answer.

<s>

Um, I'd venture a guess if it weren't for that penalty should I happen to be wrong!

'Plastic' comes from the Greek 'plastikos', meaning to form or mold.

The word "plastic" means "capable of being formed or shaped". Clay is plastic. Dough is plastic. And thanks to plastic surgery, bodies are plastic as well.

I'll take a voucher instead of the kiss.

Well done.

Laurel was in there first - so the kiss is hers !

When, where - and where again ?

:D

I think cosmetic surgery is great for deformaties and birth defects, but the vanity aspect is a waste of time IMHO. No one is 18 forever. Time marches on. We all end up wrinkled. It's good to take care of oneself, but surgery is a waste of time & money better spent elsewhere. Just my two cents.

I agree with you. I just saw Liza Minneli on a show recently, she'd obviously had some face lifts. She looked gross IMHO.

I like who I am, and would never do that for vanity.

If I was deformed in some unnatural way, I'd consider it, but not for any other reason.

and I think the surgeon forgot he was working on her instead of Michael !
