OK - The MST3K Movie is on right now. I loved the series but haven't yet seen this movie.

My thoughts?

It's good in movie form, because they don't censor their comments.

And, it's odd in movie form without commercials for breaks from the nonsense.

Other thoughts?

Damn these old movies are odd.

LMAO!

But what about Daddy-o?

And the Beast of Yucca Flats?

I'm still waiting for TV's Frank to come out. Is he in this movie?

I don't think so. They dumped Frank for Pearl....

The MST3K movie is quite good (and This Island Earth is so bad), but I don't know that it rivals classic episodess like the Manos: The Hands of Fate one.

I don't remember if TV's Frank is in the movie or not, it's been a while since I've seen it.

Yes!

My husband still occasionally will say (with appropriate theme music)

Manos - the Hands of Fate!

Oh - I just thought of another one. Remember Mitchell?

:D

My friends and I were pretty much impressed when "This Island Earth" came out. After all, there was a monster, and you got to see it, which is more than you could say for most of the matinee "horror" movies we used to sit through. (I think I'm one of the few people left alive who actually paid to see "Plan Nine From Outer Space.") Also, there was that cool shot of the earth people's guts when they were flying through space. That got a big thumbs up from the young Doc M.

The flick was also featured as the inspiration in the Joe Dante film "Explorers", about 3 kids who build a space ship out of a Tilt-A-Whirl car. I'm not the only one who has a soft spot for this movie.

Yeah, MST did better with things like "Manos," just an incredible film experience, or "Sky Divers" or "Red Zone Cuba", both produced, directed, and starred in by Coleman Francis, a guy who looks just like the 3 Stooges' Curly, only without the charm.

Red Zone Cuba. Holy hell....that was simply awful. It was nice of MST to get a hold of it. Jack Frost was also another choice film....from Norway, methinks, but I cannot directly recall.
