I have a story I've worked on since March, submitted in July, still Pending. I have worked on another story, in Celebrities and Fan Fiction, for a while, too, and a couple of days ago it was finally ready, so I submitted it. It's now published, but my story from July (which was ahead of it in line) remains in Pending. Why would they take the most recent story first and leave the older on Pending?

I have a story chapter that's been stuck in limbo for like three weeks now going on four. But the entire second arc of my sci-fi series was posted in the course of like, three days. The publishing Gods truly do work in mysterious ways.

You need to politely ask Laurel what is going on. A story shouldn't be in pending as long as that. This may be an obvious (and dumb-sounding question) but are you sure you submitted it? A couple of people have admitted that they thought they had but they discovered later that they had missed hitting the right button.

Because I keep saying-and no one seems to agree-that this is a glitch. Stories are sliding into some limbo and Laurel is not seeing them. Unpublish, publish again, this time put something in the notes field which triggers it getting a closer look, and it should go through.

I'm surprised you let a story sit for close to two months and only think this is weird because a recent one went up first. If anything, that proves my point that its nothing deliberate, but a serious site issue that's been going on for some time.

Recently, (last few months), Laurel or Manu posted a message about what to do if your story doesn't get published. I looked at the pinned posts in AH, couldn't find it. Maybe someone else will remember.

Well it looks like my story just got updated from pending to published after I messaged help and support. So imma give it another day.

It's in the Pending box.

I've read that. I've done those things.
I know they're super-busy, but they created their own situation. They've been like this for years now. Someday Laurel will pass, and the whole site might go out with a whimper, not a bang. I think there are more dead links than live ones on the web now.

Give them another week, and then maybe pull the story and then repost it a week beyond that. Change the title, at least a bit, on the new submission.
