Happiness lies in focusing on the simple things in life, the things you're given, that cannot be bought, the things offered when you didn't know you needed them, the things everyone has but few stop to see. Things like friendship, love, humor, beauty in the world around you, kindness and thankfulness.

This I believe.

There is nothing in this world that is as sacred as love. Nothing on this earth comes close.

The hardest lesson for people to learn, when it comes to love, is that there are infinite kinds of love, not just platonic, romantic, familial. There is love for your neighbor. Love for your friends. Love for your fellow man.

But the problem with love is that it is usually the more passive of the two extremes. Love is often a warm, comforting feeling, like a cozy blanket you sleep with for years. Hatred is its eternal opposite, and is usually the active emotion, driving action and defense. Humans aren't that far removed from our primordial ancestors, where fight-or-flight was survival.

The point of this ramble is that love could, truly, conquer...but it's very nature makes it a difficult battle to wage.

I believe if we hold a politician or public servant to any standard, we need to measure everyone by the same standard, and not change our values to fit our favorite.

I believe we need to stop demonizing those whose ideas we don't agree with.

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement.
