Think about your avatar

My AV does effect how, and where I post. I'm very aware of it, and I believe it flavors the tone of my posts.

I can not bring myself to post on any serious thread while using my current AV. I thought about posting to a couple of different 9/11 threads yesterday, even got as far as typing out the post. It just didn't feel right saying something so serious, while wearing nothing.

I changed my AV Tuesday evening because of yesterday. I had a picture of my ass on there, and it really just seemed disrespectful to have it there with the picture of the fireman in my sig. And knowing I would be posting regarding Sept 11th, I felt I needed to change it.

Otherwise, I normally don't give a rat's ass. So what if my tits or ass are showing, what I say can't be taken seriously at that point? Words are words, opinion are opinions - a small picture to the left doesn't make me assume that what a person has to say isn't worth reading anymore. If we did that, we'd never be able to take anything Sillyman has to say seriously again.

What make-up?

he's got a point, PV. them's his real skin tones. falling into a vat of unknown ACME Brand chemicals will do that to a person.

My Av.....

Changes to suit whatever mood, or attitude I may have. I enjoy everyone's Av's, some are clever, some gross, as long as it suits the member is fine with me. Never judge a member by their "cover"! :D

Mine also changes with whatever mood I am in. Most of the time I use some form of artwork...the current one is a Walker Evans photograph. I also use John Pitre's work from time to time.

I like Never's H. R. Giger.

Whoops!

What color is his cheese log?

White PV. At least that's what HarleyQuinn, his sometimes girlfriend, says.

Thank you Rhys. I've had several of my friends tell me that it fits my personality more than any other avatar I've used.

My random thoughts on av's

It confuses me when guys have a girl AV

Porno pictures (unless tasteful) are annoying (excluding Glam whos av's I ALWAYS adore)

...and I do relate the picture to what people are saying and I put thought into mine...hopefully it reflects me!

Hmmmm, interesting topic. No wonder no one wants to pat me. And I am being stalked by the dog catcher.
<drooling on Never> :D
Hey are you saying people will associate me with the av I have picked and think I am a bit of a dog? *WooF* :p

Yea your my dog assume the position Bitch, Daddy's got a bone(er) for Fluffy!

<---- As you can see.

I've considered all sort of avatars, but ultimately I never seem to decide. In some respects, an avatar other than a photo of one's self seems insincere, to me. I'm too chicken to post an avatar of myself for some important reasons and a few silly ones. A non-human avatar would probably be best, but somehow that can seem even more pretentious, like "I am a lion, noble and strong"--when I'm really just an ordinary guy--one of millions of similar guys. It might be fun to think about it for a while. Perhaps that's what I'll do...

Never, as to your original post, (because I haven't read the entire thread) Yes! Very well said! This is why my breast av (for the av contest) had to go after only 2 days, it just wasn't right to force that on anyone, and also, who could possibly take me seriously with my nipples in their face?

Excellent! :)

I don't recall anyone complaining. ;)

Well, thank you, but still....one should have a choice as to whether or not they'd like to see my nipples.
It actually kept me from posting...Oh, my! :)

Can't have you not posting. Still, I would choose the nipples. :D

LOL, then click on my pic linkl!:D

Rambrat...I cannot imagine your av devastating me anymore than it already does, but what the heck...try me!;)

To Quote John Wayne:

This is "re-god-damn-diculous"

If the photo of an ass is not appropriate on 9/11, then it probably isn't on the other 364 days of the year.

I say what I want and when I want to say it and rely on the reader to muster the intellectual capacity to read the words in the context in which they are written and posted notwithstanding the av. If the reader can not do that, then the problem is with the reader and not with the owner of a given av.

With all the stuff going on, I can not believe there are those who even think this way or that this is "an issue." Get a bloody life!!! Have a nice day.

(Footnote: I put a lot of thought into my avatars).

I'm still learning my way around lit but I've noticed that when people change avs' they change on every post they've made. So even if you had a serious av for a serious thread, if you change it to a sexy or silly thing for another thread, anyone who looks at your post on the serious thread will see the new av. I'm with Freya2 on this one. Don't judge the book by the cover.
