Things you can't get wherever you are.

Bob ****'s Vintage Cider.

Bob died about 15 years ago, before the Excise Man caught up with him for illegally distilling cider into a spirit like Calvados and selling it as 'Vintage Cider'.

His 'Vintage' was about 45% proof and slipped down the throat like nectar - and then hit you with a wallop! It was sold in half-pint glasses. Most people stayed with the single half-pint...

PS. I have asterisked out his name because his family is still around and still making - legally - apple juice.

Booze in grocery stores...

I was in Boston last month and was shocked at their strict liquor laws. No alcohol sold anywhere except liquor stores. Not even at Costco! That stinks

For the purposes of visiting, a distinction need not be made as to downtown NYC versus the rest of of the island, unless you've made it to NYC, but not downtown.

And of course one must differentiate between "downtown" and "Downtown"; most people outside of NYC, the definition of downtown would probably be Midtown, although Tribeca would equally be a downtown, and that is Downtown.

BTW, I can almost see my house in the OP photo, and it's very quiet here. The 122 is probably the quietest Precinct in the City.

Clay oven lamb and chicken from the restraunt I love in North Mumbai. The vinegar breakfast drink from the Tokyo mandarin oriental hotel that helped my skin so much. The pesto ham subs across from the university in Murcia. The square homemade pizzas from the small town in Ohio I lived in for a while.
