Things I wanna know

Here's something I want to know. How come I can no longer sleep past 6 am, no matter what time I went to bed?

I fear it is because I am secretly already a senior citizen, but I need somebody to assure me that I am still young and refreshing.

You are young and refreshing, like freshly squeezed orange juice. You're juicy. So very juicy.

I can't sleep past 5 am, I'm lucky if I can fall back asleep for another hour or two but I usually just lay there listening to my husband breathe.

You are not old. I've had this same issue since I left the army. The time has less to do with it than the sun for me.

As I am in a time change free state, I am up at 5 in the summer and 6 in the winter...

Yeah, I suspect this is some kind of issue with light and dark and my body's confusion. My doc says I am surrounded by too much light at night and just before bed. He suggested I should wear a mask, but I can't have anything on my face when I sleep because I will just end up ripping it off.

I did get something close to blackout blinds to keep the room dark when the days are longer.

I will not use those blue light glasses. Nope.

I've been telling myself I am going to get top end blackouts for years. The standard ones just don't do it.

I stay at the same hotel in Chicago 4x a year. Water tower Hyatt. Most incredible blackouts ever, complete with a push button up/down next to the bed. Only place in the world I can sleep in.

I covet that kind of blackout curtain once spring comes and it gets light so damn early.

In moments of exhausted desperation, I have fantasized about nailing plywood to my bedroom windows, but there are four and they are really tall, plus I wouldn't be able to see the trees and wildlife and stuff. I know that because I have light blue eyes that being light sensitive is par for course, but this shit is getting old.

Tinfoil and scotch tape. Form and function.

That would so blow the decor of my room. It is decorated in tranquil earth tones. Foil would totes clash.

They are well worth the investment. My next door neighbors on both sides of my house are recent divorcees and the first thing they both did post-divorce was install these super bright LED dusk-to-dawn lights in their back yards, which flooded my bedroom at night.

I spent good money on primo blackout curtains and can now sleep at night.
