I waited such a long time for this day to come. And now it seems almost anticlimactic. (That is a word, right?) On my retirement, I was going to shout from the rooftops and let the world know that I spent over 20 years in the Armed Forces of the United States... a soldier, a role-model, defender of flag and country... and queer as a 3-dollar bill.

Then I thought... so what? I don't think I did anything extraordinary. They never asked. I never told. Even if it was accepted in the military, I'm not sure I would've told a whole bunch of people I'm bisexual. Why would they care?

But the country didn't fall apart, the military is stronger now than it was before I came in, and there are apparently quite a few people out there who think I was a pretty damn good leader of men and women.

So there.

Thank you for your service to our country. As a military man myself, I could care less about your sexual preference. As long as we got the job done, you can drink a beer with me anyday. :))

Tis a shame that they still think that homo/bisexuals are a threat to national security. Congrats on your service, now go out and have some fun without the fear of someone asking!

Your actions spoke louder than your words ever could.

You might be interested to know that the Pentagon has now decided that homosexuality is a "personality defect" and not a mental disorder. It's a small step, but a step forward nonetheless.

Congrats on retiring and thank you for you service to our country. Glad you made it through without being hassled over your sexual preferences. Oh, and nice pic.

So, the military now understands that it's better to be queer than Christian?

Funny... that's how I viewed myself not too terribly long ago. You think maybe "The Man" is on his way to sexual self-realization as well?

Hey, everyone, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad I did it, and I'd do it again.
