…..sometimes it feels like walking thru a cemetery when I do a deep dive into Literotica’s libraries. I pause at the headstones that look interesting or the names that catch my eye. Yeah. This is porn site. I get it.
Would you say more than 65%, 75% of the content in the author profiles are BS? 90%? I read that some authors have more than one profile for various reasons. Now that masks are no longer required, long workdays & stressful commutes are my life. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to share a story. It is the bio which mentions health or mental health issues combined with a most recent story 2016 or older that makes me wonder…..

I try to avoid giving out too much info online, although I filled out the bio fairly accurately. I gave true answers although I didn't overdo it. One thing I did, as a sort of joke, was to reveal my approximate location although one would need Google maps to get it. Even there it's a strip about three blocks wide and over a mile long, and it's filled with apartment houses.

I regret not getting more specific. When I started, my wife made me promise to use a fake name and to tell no one what I was doing. I mean, I was teaching high school at the time, so I get it. Now that my works are getting decent ratings and, well, I’m generally proud of them, I wish I’d attached my name to them in the first place. I’m 64 and retired, who’s going to really care? But the stuff on my profile, such as it is, is true.

My profile is accurate. Other than the blurb, which covers off my genre, not much is revealed.

Close readers of my stories might figure out where I live, but since most Americans know that Australia is in the southern hemisphere somewhere, but that's about it, I doubt it.

I could find Tasmania (which is part of Australia), New Zealand, and New Guinea on a map (one with just borders, no names). I have a pretty good idea where Melbourne, Sidney, Canberra, and Perth are. And that city in the north, Port Adelie (spelling?) and Alice Springs.

The vast majority of the people here have usernames. And the majority don't have photographs of themselves. Even on Facebook, which I dabble in once in a while, I do not have photos of myself or any of my family members. A lot of people do just that, and I find it a dubious practice.

Lol.

Sydney, not Sidney. Darwin is right up north, Adelaide directly south but a long way south.

New Guinea and New Zealand are their own nations, but yes, Tasmania is state of Australia. Women who don't shave their pubes have a "map of Tasmania".

Brisbanians would be pissed off that you named Alice Springs over Brisbane, since the former is a regional city of about 20,000, the latter a state capital city with two and a half million.

I'll give you a Pass, Gunhill, coz you sorta kinda got things right, and a Credit for the map with no names ;).

I think New Guinea is actually divided into two or three nations. Try to do a map with no names of Africa. That one is tough. Asia is a little easier, as are South America and Central America.

"A map of Tasmania?" Was there a reason for that, or is it just random slang?

I'd like to think you have an Iva Davies mullet, circa 1987ish

Map of Tassie (don't worry, it's safe to click the link)

Years ago in my secondhand book shop, I had a legal document appointing a solicitor in Auckland, New Zealand to act as an agent for the Government of Tasmania.

The clerk had a problem. Tasmania had just ceased being Van Diemens Land and the official seal was still of Van Diemens Land so he had to say 'Tasmania formerly Van Diemens Land' every time it was mentioned.

Oh, trying to show your Australian credibility? I heard Midnight Oil's Beds Are Burning on the jukebox of a Long Island bar while getting stood up by my Internet "date."

Four-wheels scare the cockatoos
From Kintore east to Yuendumu.

I wonder if they still make Holdens? A fictionalized version of the story is here: Love Is The Drug

Yes, That's Papua New Guinea, two separate nations.

Map of Tasmania - look at the shape of the island!

Never had a mullett. Did the hippy long hair thing at school and uni, then got barber cuts when I started working.

Now it's a No.2 razor out in the back garden, doing my best Sean Connery impression, but with stubble, not a moustache.

No more Holdens. The last gasp was a few years ago now. We don't even have Holden dealerships any more. The Bathurst 1000 isn't the same without the Blue and Red.

I’m enjoying the profiles discussion. BTW, mine is true but intentionally so anonymized, it doesn't actually matter. We all should be cautious on the internet as a whole, and more so on a site like this.

But still. Wtf was the question? I'm not really convinced it was about profiles. From Cemeteries to stories to whether profiles are real or not to mental illness (more on this later.) And masks and commutes and 2016. Plus the title, “they came they went.” Perhaps the masks should be made of tin foil?

Irony alert too: It's also one post and gone by the OP.
