There's Nothing Shereads Loves More Than A Footnote

Chiefly, I adore her for her love of footnotes themselves.1 They're far too rarely seen. But there's also her charitable sheltering of itinerate cat-urine salesman,2 her beautiful pictures of Alfalfa Rose, her delightful peroration on the life cycle of the butterfly, and of course her wonderfully obliging provision of alfalfa3 at all of the better AH functions.

Plus, of course, Bluebell likes her. :D

1 While endnotes have long been the standard due to the greater ease of inclusion in manually typeset texts, the advent of electronic layout has made possible the return to the much more desirable footnote format, which is more actively a part of the text as well as a delightful location for authorial disgressions and joie de vivre.

2 The cat-urine supply appears actually to have been a more permanent feature of the yard than the word "itinerate" would lead one to suspect, but here I bow to the original author's choice of wording.

3 A deep-rooted perennial member of the pea family and a key ingredient in Shereads' infamous "Alfalfa Nog," the recipe for which is classified as a mind-altering hallucinogen and a Class III controlled substance.

'Tis true. I aspire to be Sher if I grow up. Not many people can achieve that high a level of unbuttoned slatterdom at so young an age.

ETA: I think the lederhosen twins use those hats for more than just hatty purposes.
Also, doesn't it look like the image is catching them both three seconds prior to a mutual bottom-pinch?
