It's an interesting theory (that Homo Sapien interbred with Neanderthal, instead of replacing him), but I think it's still an open question about whether that was biologically possible (think of a chimpanzee and a baboon trying to breed a new kind of monkey -- not really possible outside of a thread between Hanns and SINthysist).

Frankly, I think we were seeded here by a colonizing Alien super race.

If you can find a copy of Dance of the Tiger by Bjorn Kurten, you'll find an interesting theory on the demise of neandertal man.

The book is copyright 1980/81 and presents a very plausible theory that interbreeding between Homo Sapiens and Homo Neandertalis resulted in sterile "mules." If Neandertals were intrigued by modern women enough to prefer them to neandertal women, then the neandertal birth rate would drop below sustainable levels and very little (if any) traces would survive to pass down in the DNA evidence.

This whole theory is entertaining. Okay, let's get this straight, an alleged "modern" species evolved all by it's lonesome, and interbred with a assumed "inferior" self developed species also. Then through all that DNA milkshaking, we have the adapted peoples of the world today? Give me a freakin' break! Those guys have got to start dating and get out of the lab! Yeah, that explains the characteristics of Europeans, Asians, and Africans. Where exactly did blue eyes come from? And explain their dominance in certain northern cultures. If their theory is correct, we'd all be a healthy neutral color by now, with uniformed appearance. Sounds like a contrived fantasy to drum up some more grant money. Whatta comic book! :D
