It was the kind of storm that seemed to come out of nowhere. Or maybe Sara had just had too much to drink at the party and wasn't paying much attention. She had left the party before she did anything she'd regret, and was halfway across campus when there was a huge flash of lightning and a deafening burst of thunder. She screamed in surprise and then the rain started falling, thick and hard. She started to run, but she was disoriented, and when the next flash of lightning knocked the power out, she was in the dark.
She made it to her dorm and pushed in, soaked to the skin and laughing from fear. The stairs were dark, but she made her way up to the third floor where her room was. It was late and the hall was dark and quiet. Everyone had either gone to sleep or was still out. She opened the door to her room and slipped in. The first thing was to get out of her wet clothes, so she stripped down quickly and pulled a towel from the hook on her closet door.
It was a little rough and had an oddly masculine smell to it, and she mumbled something nasty about her roommate's boyfriend. She hung the towel back up and found her bed, pulling back the covers, she climbed in. It felt strange, but she shrugged it off, thinking how everything seemed strange in the dark, and soon she slipped into a deep, drunk sleep, listening to the rain.
